The dude looks like superman and shazam's love child with blonde hair. It's got a little bit of aquaman garb in there too. Nice and original...

He already told a similar story with Irredeemable though..... while I'm excited for that title's movie adaptation, I'm not sure we need another version of this concept by the same writer no less. I'm a fan (and a hypocrite) so I'll read it regardless. lol

Why not just revive Irredeemable? This looks like the exact same story.

Just seems a little odd to me for Mark Waid to be riffing off his own work.

I don't think this seems like Irredeemable. It has a similar theme, but thats about it. And being the Superman lover that Waid is, he probably has a lot of Superman-gone-bad type stories in his head. And since Irredeemable had an ending, a new comic can use another one if his ideas.

I have no problem with that. I love his work. So ill be picking this up for sure

It may be a bit derivative, but if it's a quality product it's still fun to read. And Waid always gets the top of the line artists for his books, so that alone is worth the sticker price.

I agree with someone above that he seems to be copying his previous works. He probably had too many great ideas for one book, and decided to produce slightly different versions of the same thing so he could get all his ideas published without sacrificing the quality of each by over-stuffing them with subplots. Unlike how Zack Snyder unnecessarily jammed all his ideas and subplots into one product producing a incomprehensible mess.
