Of course DC wins. They have had all the best movies except Avengers.

DC-7 good movies
Marvel-11 good movies

oh yeah, that makes sense.

I don't know as this is completely accurate - Marvel's putting out more movies but still maintaining about $200 million per movie while DC is putting out fewer and still averaging about the same. Seems to me more movies producing the same amount would be the winning studio... but hey, who am I?

jbow214 - 10/1/2012, 8:39 AM
I think overall in the grand scheme of things, they are pretty much equal. Looks to be about the same amount of duds and studs percentage wise.

AraxisHT - 10/1/2012, 8:41 AM
@UniBeam11 Average per film of course. The only one that matters.

it's like Batman and Friends vs Marvel.

A Shame Really...

Flash and Wonder Woman on the Big Screen are Long Overdue.

I Bet if Marvel had them we'd be on Flash2
and Wonder Woman3 by Now.

Marvel kicks DC's ass, lol.

All i see on DC side is Superman and Batman.

Mavel has a lot more variety.

Dolph Lundgren's Punisher isn't in this. If they're gonna have Howard the Duck in they might as well have that.

Where's V for Vendetta?

Can't believe that Steel actually made 2 million.

Ummm....that's just domestic box office, unless my eyes are not seeing clearly.

I want to see this in 3 years. Look at Marvel's planned/in-development (Phase 2) vs. DC's planned/in-development (possibly maybe a Justice League movie).
DC needs to get right.

DocBantam - 10/1/2012, 8:48 AM
one thing is for sure - aside from Batman and Superman, DC movies really suck. Not so Marvel who can count on Spiderman, Thor, Iron Man, Captain America, etc etc...even Fantastic Four did a heck of a lot better than anything in DC's backlist!!
sicknimon
sicknimon - 10/1/2012, 8:49 AM
AraxisHT that is the only one that matters eh? Especially since those #s are just averaged out.

WHERE ARE THE ORIGINAL CAPTAIN AMERICA, SPIDERMAN, AND PUNISHER MOVIE?

It appears MTV doesn't pay well enough to have competent researchers to get the numbers right. I would think our editors here would qualify it before posting or mention that the numbers are only domestic and not that accurate.

Lot of odd omissions.

boyofsteel - 10/1/2012, 8:58 AM
bottom line, WB is sitting on a gold mine, they can spew out 8 wizard movies in 8 years but can't give us anything but Superman and Batman for the last 50 years
GoILL
GoILL - 10/1/2012, 8:59 AM
@sicknimon

I believe they were never released in theaters in the United States.

this analysis is incomplete and i believe it only shows domestic box, why not include foreign box for one thing...

Looks like a Marvel win to me! If you go by total dollars and if they were to add Foriegn Box Office, Marvel would definitely further crush DC's money totals!
SageMode
SageMode - 10/1/2012, 9:06 AM
Pretty much Batman and Superman vs MARVEL.

LMAO, smh.
SageMode
SageMode - 10/1/2012, 9:07 AM
But why are they counting domestic and not worldwide?
usclerkguy
usclerkguy - 10/1/2012, 9:08 AM
Men in Black films could also be added to Marvel's totals!
jbow214
jbow214 - 10/1/2012, 9:08 AM
They are missing a ton of movies on both sides.

@MrEko Forgot about the first 4 of those but knew the rest were dc films. With those added DC probably has a very much lower Average per film. An those marvel movies were awful lolol.
wvcheesehead
wvcheesehead - 10/1/2012, 9:33 AM
If we are bringing all titles in, we should include the Transformers and GIJoe films under Marvel, as they did have a long run in the comics.

The world doesn't count ? Typical American POV . Get real people these movies make money all around the world not only in the USA .
Coolkid
Coolkid - 10/1/2012, 9:37 AM
If U take the over-all worldwide collection into consideration... Marvel movies have already crossed $10 Billion... And They've collected as twice as what DC movies have collected worldwide...!!!
jimpinto24
jimpinto24 - 10/1/2012, 9:42 AM
DAMN!!!! I was hoping Marvel would win.
