New Trailer For Ridley Scott's EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS

New Trailer For Ridley Scott's EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS

The third trailer was supposedly the final one, but evidently not, as here's a fourth! There's some new footage from Ridley Scott's ambitious looking biblical epic here, so hit the jump to see Christian Bale (The Dark Knight trilogy) wage war on Joel Edgerton (Warrior) to free his people.

From acclaimed director Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Prometheus) comes the epic adventure Exodus: Gods and Kings, the story of one man's daring courage to take on the might of an empire. Using state of the art visual effects and 3D immersion, Scott brings new life to the story of the defiant leader Moses (Christian Bale) as he rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses (Joel Edgerton), setting 400,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.

The film stars Christian Bale as Moses, Joel Edgerton as Ramses, Aaron Paul as Joshua, John Turturro as Seti, Sigourney Weaver as Tuya, Ben Mendelsohn as Hegep and Ben Kingsley as Nun. Exodus: Gods and Kings hits theatres on December 12.

Sure let's all have the Caucasion actors in brown paint, that won't be racially offensive.

Do i have to explain why this movie is terrible when the evidence is clearly right in front of you.

Why is it that for every awesome movie Ridley Scott makes, he has to make 3 duds?

Yep, that was exactly what I thought when I saw one of the previous trailers.

In the end, this is the live-action version of Prince of Egypt.

Except the actors portraying the ancient Egyptians aren't applicable to the historical racial counterparts.

Come on bro, I know you cringed when seeing Weaver as Queen Tuya.

I don't mind Bale because at least he looks like he could pull off looking middle eastern/Jewish but Joel Edgerton and Siguorney Weaver look terrible as Egyptians. I think this is going to be a good Biblical epic though.

Yea, I remember the ethically diverse cast of "The Ten Commandments". You know, Charlton Heston, Yul Brynner Ann Baxter, Edward G. Robinson, Sir Cedric Hardwicke...etc.

We have a black Annie and Johnny Storm a Mexican spider man. Thor is a girl for God's sake. Nobody even farts a pebble, but you turn Egyptians white and all the sudden people start shitting bricks. Looks like a fun take on the tale. Like Gladiator was so historically accurate.

Christian Bale as Moses? Well I already said "noh" to Russell Crowe as Noah I'll probably do the same with this. \

This is a very puzzling trend in Hollywood. They hate Christian beliefs, and they are the self appointed champions of gratuitous, forced diversity so why make all these movies from their holy book which is about people from the Middle East featuring Caucasian actors?

BILLCIPHER2 - 11/30/2014, 9:57 PM
@Saintsinnister The reason nobody tries to argue against those examples is because minorities of race, gender and sexuality are hardly represented in Hollywood films and other media platforms. It's also not about historical accuracy it's really just about representation and how the big Hollywood machine sees race, ethnicity, etc.
I mean, sure, this movie isn't necessarily hurting anybody, and people are gonna like it because with the A-List talent and crew attached to its production it could very well be a good movie. But it's harmful to start taking light of whitewashing in a place located in freaking Africa for gosh sake. White erasure doesn't compare to those other examples because all of those characters have been previously white in mediums traditionally dominated by white people, usually men.

Oh stfu Hollywood has been pandering to minorities bitching for years. If you didn't notice they are not speaking ancient Hebrew either. Good actors playing classic roles. Heston can play Moses but Bail can't? Funk you! What about all the movies about history where they throw in 8 or 9 minorities in ancient Europe or the old west? How many Black folk really roamed the old west do you think? Because every photo I see they are all white, Mexican, or Native American. Now I'm not saying I care. But I can't sit back and listen to all these Hippocrates without pointing it out. Just enjoy the movie and stop trying to make everything about you and your bullshit self rightious causes.

@DrLecter Well as far as the christian beliefs part, the films they're approving are part of Judaism, which, out of all religions, hollywood is the most accepting of.

@Saintsinnister

It's one thing to blindly say "stfu" to people who are giving legitimate criticism towards a history that pretty much everyone is fond of and then it's another thing to just tell people to accept it since it was done years ago in an old 20th century flick that hardly no one's either seen or even cares about. And we're not talking about "Ancient Europe or the Ole West" we're talking about Egypt here. I'd be more than glad to join you in your criticism of Blacks in those roles, for they don't make any sense to me either. However, Ancient Egypt consisted of mostly Nubian people of color and the Arabs didn't even invade until around 300AD so that's another thing. Sure it's a "bullshit righteous cause" to you because YOU'RE NOT BLACK! xD It's easier for you to give two fvcks less than those who may descendants from these lands or even current natives of these lands to this very day. The casting is PATHETIC and people will continue to spank the ass of the production crew behind the film until it's released.

So with all due respect to all of the prejudice folks on these threads and racist Hollywood distributers...

It's one thing to chance the race of one or two characters but white washing an entire cast? lol Plus, this sinister character needs to understand that his history has been similarly whitewashed. Blacks were in the "wild west" you know? smh

But that was my thing with all the angst over race changes in CBM's in general. This type of stuff happens all the time and it's been accepted since Hollywood began. Now you get a role or two where whites are displaced and some of you guys are having conniptions.

Having said all that, I would like to see Johnny and Sue store stay blonde haired and blue eyed, and a fine actor like Edris Elba was wasted as Hemdall. The larger point is though, white washing is a much bigger problem in Hollywood...especially historically but it still goes on today. Don't fool yourself.

It's just a movie - get off your high horse, @Rational Nerd.

Since you like to recite a lot of facts and history @Rational Nerd, here's some information for you:

You said: "it was done years ago in an old 20th century flick that hardly no one's either seen or even cares about"

In fact, "The Ten Commandments" was the biggest box office hit of 1956, earning 7 Oscar nominations. It was in release until 1960 and has earned the modern equivalent of $2 billion dollars in box office receipts. I myself have seen it a number of times. You are a bit of a philistine.
TheRationalNerd
TheRationalNerd - 12/1/2014, 11:54 AM
@Canary

Not surprised reading your defense of this argument seeing that you have an actual avatar default of Christain Bale. lol smh Way too easy man...

Okay, first thing is that I should've pointed out is that hardly ANY of the modern audience in TODAY's world has either seen or even cares about that film. I've only seen about half of it about 2-3 years ago. Of course mostly adults within the age range of 40+ will be fond of that film. But my main point is that things SHOULD be different seeing how much Black Hollywood has become more accepted into the film industry. But hey, these are the types of films you get when your studio owners are not within the same race or possibly even fond of the historical factors that they should know about before they give these projects the green light. It's just a movie to you but to other folks it may be more than that, and seeing the laziness of ackwoledgement towards a history that shouldn't go forgotten proves the ignorance of the film industry. I mean we might as well ignore the ancient tombs in Egypt while we're at it? :) Like I said at first and ill say again it's pure lazy casting and I hope the box office shows the same lazy response.

Yea yea yea and every painting or artists rendering of white Moses should be burned right. Maybe just maybe these were the best actors who auditioned. . . But let's make a controversy anyway
