Red is a film adaptation of the comic book mini-series published between 2003 and 2004 and created by writer Warren Ellis and artist Cully Hamner. It follows the story of Frank Moses (Bruce Willis), a former black-ops CIA agent who is now living a quiet, secluded life. That is, until the day a hi-tech assassin shows up intent on killing him. With his identity compromised and the life of the woman he cares for, Sarah (Mary-Louis Parker), endangered, Frank reassembles his old team (Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren) in a last ditch effort to survive. The film also stars Ernest Borgnine, Brian Cox, Richard Dreyfus, John Malkovich, Julian McMahon, Karl Urban and James Remar. After two months of production in Toronto, Canada, the cast and crew moved to New Orleans, LA where they have just finished filming.

Over the past few days, the comic's co-creator Cully Hamner has been updating his website and Twitter account with tidbits from the set; one of which is a first look at the logo being used during production. Here are the photo and feed:

Here's the message from Hamner's website; in which he seems very grateful to have such a capable crew handling his work:

"Day 2 On The Set Of RED...

Man, today was a long day, but I was introduced to John Malkovich, Mary Louise Parker, and Karl Urban; got to casually chat here and there with Bruce Willis, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, and director Robert Schwentke, all very pleasant guys, along with tons of really nice folks with the production; had a long conversation with Willis' stunt double, Stuart, who's a fascinating guy; sat for interviews w/ foreign press and DVD people; and just generally made note of the fact that feature film crews work really, really hard."

VERY cool. But, just like Green Lantern, I don't expect it to be the final logo. They wouldn't have worked that deep into marketing already with filming JUST starting.

Me like, captures the essence better than the one for the GL movie.

I still havent had chance to read the graphic novel but from what I've heard so far, I'm really excited for this movie! :)

The graphic novel really isn't worth the time or money. It was fifteen bucks and only took me fifteen minutes to read(and I'm a slow reader(it would prob take you five)). Everything happens too quickly and it will leave you wanting more. Which I'm hoping the movie will give you. The graphic novel had a good premise, but it would only make a 20 minute movie at best. So hopefully they add enough to bring it to its potential.

Cool, I like that they kept the comic look. Never read..Red, but it doesn't look that good to me from what I know about it, then again, I thought Scott Pilgrim sounded crap before I saw the trailer.

Cully Hamner was one of my favorite artists back in the day. He must be in heaven getting to meet all of those stars and see his characters come to life.
