Channing Tatum Being Considered To Star In David Fincher's 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA

With Brad Pitt passing on the project, David Fincher is now looking at a group of actors including G.I. Joe: Retaliation's Channing Tatum for Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. We also have an update on how close the film is to production.

Today, a report went online revealing that Disney was considering shooting their 3D tentpole 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea (directed by David Fincher) in Australia this year. Now, The Playlist has chimed in with their own exclusive info, confirming that frequent Fincher collaborator Brad Pitt has passed on the role of Ned Land. The site says that the Jules Verne adaptation is greenlit even without Pitt, and that Fincher is looking at a group of actors to join the sci-fi film. The only one that is named is Channing Tatum, who will be seen next month in Paramount's G.I. Joe: Retaliation 3D. The problem is that all of these actors won't be available to film 20,000 Leagues until next year; it could have been shot this summer if a lead was set. Right now, Fincher is weighing in on his options, including Gone Girl at Fox and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo sequel at Sony, the former which he can work on directly before Leagues. The film has a script written by Andrew Kevin Walker (Se7en). Stay tuned to CBM for more new as we have it.

So, my two cents are that Channing Tatum is this year's Sam Worthington, much like Benedict Cumberbachenbermm. Anyway, he's everywhere.

He was OK in The Eagle, but he's being considered here apparently because someone thinks he brings in money. Please, just cast for the roles. Arrg.

Well Brad Pitt missed out a possible oppurtunity, it won't be too long from now when he starts to get no roles and starts casting himself in his own films.

Tatum is only good for certain roles, where his acting skills are only needed sparingly. He won't have a captain's beard, he'll have that crappy goatee or something similar(like what he had in the first G.I.Joe, like facial hair is allowed...not)

No no no. Sweet Zeus no. I've been waiting far too long for this. No Fincher, pleeeease. Almighty Apollo, let's this be mere farce and nothing more.

Not my first choice, Tatum. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is one of my favorite classic novels. I hope they do it right
