Kathleen Kennedy No Longer Producing JURASSIC PARK IV

Despite being attached to the project for years, Frank Marshall has stated on his Twitter account that Kathleen Kennedy is no longer producing the next Jurassic Park film due to her commitment to Disney's Star Wars films.

Despite Jurassic Park IV being announced for a 2014 release last month, little is known about the long in-development project. No director or cast is set yet, and Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes scribes Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver have written the script. Steven Spielberg, who directed the first two installments, will only produce this film. Now, according to producer Frank Marshall's most recent tweet, the fourquel has lost one of its key players. Kathleen Kennedy, who has been attached to the franchise ever since producing the 1993 original, is no longer involved with Jurassic Park IV. As head of Lucasfilm, she will be executive producing Disney's upcoming Star Wars movies, including J.J. Abrams' Episode VII in 2015. Be sure to stay tuned for more news as we have it. Jurassic Park IV is slated for a June 13th, 2014 release.

I agree. This is a movie that really doesn't need to be made.

I've been waiting for another Jurassic Park for more than a decade now. the sequels following the original were terrible. Was really hoping to get another that captured the first one's feel. I still want to see this movie.

Good. They should leave the franchise as it is instead of planning more sequels. The two Crichton novels are amongst of my all time favorites, but honestly, they don't have more material to work with to develop another movie, so have some respect for the man (RIP) and prevent a potential failure.

What I don't get is,if there is flying dinosaurs on the island how come none of them fly to where the people are, there are still stories to tell with Jurassic park,I mean you put that thing in real life and no one would leave it alone, what about if they are to much of a threat and the army have to go and kill them or something like that, they kinda tried replicating the 1st film with the 3rd and that was crap

@SUPERMAN2013 Because that would need a title change to "Jurassic War".

This movie will most likely flop. Leave the franchise alone!

It's not about whether this film needs to be made or not made. It's a business decision. There's a built-in number of people that will pay to see a JP movie, and that number has a very good potential of exceeding the cost of making it. That's show business. If they decide not to proceed, it will not be out of some sudden epiphany on the part of the studio that they may have a sub-par product. Anything's possible, but that's highly unlikely.

just make a new original dinosaur/prehistoric franchise and leave the jurussic park franchise alone, a fourth movie doesn't need to be made

They should just save up their pennies *we are getting rid of them here in canada* and make a film that is 100% identical to the book. The book is so much better in soooooo many ways that a true film would make the original film look like a joke. Yes I love the original JP for what it is...but after you have read the book you can never stop thinking about what it could have been.

Not that the loss of one producer affects things THAT much. But leaving that aside, I was curious how they could set a release date for next year when there's no director or cast. Given the special fx needed wouldn't they need to already be shooting for that date to happen?

I think they can do Dinosaur F/X pretty easy now, they just have to come up with a good story that's Original Story(and we all no they can't do that in Hollywood these days) & a really good cast. Kids love Dinosaurs so they'll drag their parents to the theaters so it'll make a ton of cash!

with Walking With The Dinosaurs already being made by and for tv, don't see the need to make any more jurassic park movies.

JURASSIC PARK IV could be cool, but for some reason when I heard about this I just really didn't care that much.
