IMAX CEO Reveals Plans To Shoot Parts Of STAR WARS EPISODE VII In The Format

IMAX CEO Richard Gelfond has revealed that they are in talks with Star Wars Episode VII director J.J. Abrams to shoot parts of the highly anticipated movie in the format, just like they did for this summer's Star Trek Into Darkness. Read on for details!

We still don't know whether or not Star Wars Episode VII will be released in 3D - though that will more than likely be the case unfortunately - but it does sound as if we can expect an IMAX release for the highly anticipated movie. Talking at Goldman Sachs' Annual Communacopia Conference, IMAX chief executive officer Richard Gelfond said, "We are talking to J.J. Abrams [just] now about the next Star Wars being used with partly IMAX cameras." This joins an impressive list of upcoming IMAX releases which includes Christopher Nolan's Interstellar and Michael Bay's Transformers: Age of Extinction. The Star Wars movies have always been shot in CinemaScope, so it seems strange that they would go for this very different picture format. However, when IMAX can make such a huge difference at the box office these days, perhaps it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise! How do you guys feel about this news? Sound off below!

Makes sense, since Abrams is a strong advocate of that format.
