Joe Johnston has chimed in on what seems to be almost a daily discussion, and that's who will direct Episode VII of Star Wars. Johnston has a rich history with Lucas; with Johnston being a Concept Artist and Effects Technician for Episode IV and also being responsible for the final designs of both Bobba Fett and Yoda.

When asked by The Huffington Post's Mike Ryan about the possibility of directing Episode VII, Johnston responded by saying:

"A lot would depend on what 'it' is. I am very glad to see Lucasfilm cranking up to get productive again, regardless of who ends up doing it."

While not a definitive answer, he may be farther along in the process then we know. What do you guys and girls think? Is Johnston the right man for the job?

Still not happy about more Star Wars films, but I think Johnston might be a good choice to direct. I liked Captain America: TFA, had a nice pulp feel to it that would suit Star Wars and bring it closer to its roots, plus he was involved in the good Star Wars movies.

Fine choice but I'd rather see somebody new than somebody who already worked on the films before.

He's got the heart that star wars needs. He also has the look and feel down already. I'd say give it to him

Not necessarily a bad choice. Could work.

I really hope they make a totally new story and characters thou.

No, Cap while enjoyable had a really weak third act and was just plain silly at times, and Wolfman was an abomination. Thanks for Rocketeer though. Was good for its time.

They should return back to the style of the first films.
I would want to see creatures which are not made just with CGI.

So i take it ''Jurassic park 4'' is dead again because he was supposed to be the director from what i understood.

Gunslinger@ You have to remember that Johnston was not the only one making those films.

There is alot more going on behind the scenes.
With Wolfman he was hired on the last minute to make it watchable (Save it from shelving). I dont remember what problems the Universal had with that film but there was problems.

With Cap film. Well Marvel what i have understand keeps their projects under tight control. So maybe a little bit fault should be on their shoulders too.

@ AlexDeLarge to be completely honest, didn't know that - in particular that Wolfman was a wreck before he worked on it. Thanks for the info! Changed my opinion to a tentative "maybe".

Johnston worked on all three in the original trilogy, not just the first one. He also worked on other star wars related stuff
