STAR WARS: Mark Hamill Teases What A Luke Skywalker-Han Solo Reunion Would've Looked Like In THE FORCE AWAKENS

Did The Last Jedi's Mark Hamill express some disappointment that Luke Skywalker and Han Solo never got a reunion on screen in the new Star Wars trilogy? Check out the actor's latest tweet after the jump.

The new Star Wars trilogy is as successful as it is divisive. For as many creative liberties directors J.J. Abrams and Rian Johnson took with the first two films in the new trilogy, there was one decision, in particular, that has left many fans disappointed - the fact that we never got a proper reunion with Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia.

While we did get an emotional reunion between Han Solo and General Leia in The Force Awakens and a touching scene with Luke and Leia in The Last Jedi, we never saw all three characters on screen at the same time. In fact, we didn't even see Han Solo and Luke Skywalker together at any point in the new trilogy due to the fact that Luke was kept out of sight until the very end of The Force Awakens. And, of course, with The Force Awakens ending the way it did, we'll never get that opportunity.

The best we have right now is a "what could have been," courtesy of Mark Hamill who shared a touching photo of him and Harrison Ford hugging. He captioned the photo "What a Han/Luke reunion might have been like..."

Mark Hamill has been critical in the past of the way his character has been handled in the new trilogy and his caption suggests that even he has some regrets that Luke and Han didn't have one last adventure together. He's since retreated from some of these remarks, but you can still sense some disappointment from the actor.

Mark Hamill is returning as Luke Skywalker (likely in ghost form) in Star Wars: Episode IX, and while it's possible we could get another scene with him and Leia together, it's doubtful we'll ever see Luke and Han embrace like this on the big screen again.

Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters December 20, 2019. Disney and Lucasfilm have still not released a trailer.

What it should've been like. I don't detest the new movies, I particularly like Rey and Kylo Ren, but there have been plenty of things that have bothered me about them.

The fact that Luke and Han never reunited is a big one, followed closely by porgs.

The more you watch Ep.8, the angrier many of us have become; and the more you kind of hate that entry. I didn't feel that way at first, I was kind of "okay, he's (R.J.) doing his own thing.."
But now... F that noise. It's a pity and a wasted opportunity for the best of the (new) series...
Really, it's some BullSh!t.

@Imprtracr1 - I watched it 3 times in theaters, desperately trying to like it. I hoped maybe it would get better over time like most movies do. It just got worse and worse. What an absolute travesty.

@Imprtracr1 - The first time I really disliked it. Upon giving it a second go, it wasn’t as angry since I knew what to expect. But ever since it has been going downhill with me liking that movie

@Imprtracr1 - I differ. 7 was meh, same old rehash JJ always does and got disappointed nothing new really happens. when i rewatched TFA on blu-ray it wasn't as good as the 1st viewing, I noticed 7 moves along too fast and felt that there was a lack of direction on where the franchise was going except to just retread the same grounds the OT already did. I thought jj's star trek reboot was better.

I liked 8 even though TLJ is full of plotholes and WTF moments it felt more fresh. All those fan theories about rey's parents, snoke, where 9 would lead to, etc. all went down the drain. Johnson made TLJ so he can give the franchise back to filmmakers, rather than leaving the story up to fan demand. IMO not knowing where it can go is more exciting than knowing.
