STAR WARS: REVENGE OF THE SITH's Final Lightsaber Duel Has Finally Been Recreated In Style Of THE CLONE WARS

We've been waiting a very long time for this, but a talented group of fans and animators have finally recreated Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith's iconic lightsaber duel in the style of The Clone Wars...

The Star Wars prequels were far from perfect, but there's no denying how epic those lightsaber battles were. Yes, they sometimes went a little over-the-top in terms of choreography, but we can surely all agree that the final duel between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in Revenge of the Sith was an epic sight to behold.

The Clone Wars' final season finally caught up to the events of Episode III, expanding key scenes in the movie by shedding new light on what Anakin's Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, was up to when her Master fell to the Dark Side.

Unfortunately, we never got to see Obi-Wan and Anakin's clash on Mustafar recreated in the show's unique animation style. Well, thanks to an immensely talented group of fans and animators called Hello There Animation, we finally have an idea of what it might have looked like. And it is awesome.

Check it out in the player below (via SFFGazette.com).

The dialogue used is obviously from Revenge of the Sith, meaning we hear the voices of Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen in place of The Clone Wars' James Arnold Taylor and Matt Lanter.

The final result is incredible, though, and should some of those lost episodes ever need some additional help, here's hoping Lucasfilm turns to this talented group.

Earlier this year, prequel trilogy stunt coordinator Nick Gillard revealed that both McGregor and Christensen pushed back against George Lucas when he went down the "high ground" route for the final clash. As a result, an alternate version of the fight's closing moments was discussed which sounds considerably better.

"There was a version - that whole volcano thing where they land on that droid wasn't there," he recalls. "Originally, they swung and landed - they swung off that great big boat and they landed on the side of the volcano, on the lava right next to each other."

"And straight away, Anakin just grabbed him by the...he disarmed him...[and] grabbed him by the throat. He’s got him and Obi’s saber is down on the ground, and Anakin says, ‘I’m sorry it has to be this way, my master,’ and actually lets [the lightsaber] go."

"Obi hunches to get away from it, sucks his saber up, as he pulls his saber up he cuts through Anakin’s arms, almost by mistake, and then chops through his legs almost by mistake, and the whole body fell off of his legs," Gillard concludes. "It was more of a defense-gone-wrong kind of move. It was strong."

Great work.

Also, this reminds me more of the problems with the kenobi show. They shouldn't have made him more powerful than Vader.

You can see here it's far more clever than just obi wan being the stronger fighter. He instead excells at his lightsaber style which is great for defense, then wait for his opponent to make a mistake.

@Origame - They made a show full of filler just to drop the ball on Kenobi/Vader rematch. That’s what pissed me off about that show the most, especially when they clearly had the people there to come up with something good just like they did with Reva vs Vader.

@AllsGood - My wife has convinced me to watch it with her. I hate anything YA, so my review would be quite biased, but she’s been a fan of the books for years and says it’s a really good adaptation.

@AllsGood - there's a show called Disney Success?

DoubleD, I know you got banned and had to make a new account to keep being your insufferable, mentally ill self.

But seriously man, get help. Beg for help. Sell your body and soul for help.

As good as this was done and a cartoon version of the end of The Dark Knight, they prove that cartoons just cannot be as powerful as live action. Unless maybe a child is the viewer.

@PartyKiller - I don't think it proves live action is superior to animation. Simply that these scenes were made for live action and don't directly translate to an animated form without losing impact.

Similarly, no Disney live action remake has ever been nearly as good as its animated counterpart.

@Nomis929 - That was a terribly called game all around.
It's been a very weird season overall.
Chiefs don't look very good. Eagles exposed as posers.
Bills look soft.
Cowboys can't win on the road.

Maybe the Ravens win it all this year?

@Nomis929 - Yeah. Same here.
I hate Harbaugh (actually both brothers) and I think Lamar is a choker in the playoffs, but no one else in the AFC looks good.

Then there's my Pats... 🤣
Well, we had a good run.
Nomis929
Nomis929 - 12/31/2023, 10:42 PM
@Feralwookiee - Real talk... I see The Superbowl as 49ers V Ravens.

But I'm hoping against hope that the Cowboys can pull one out against the 49ers and have learned from the previous years post season mistakes of bad clock management and play calling in the final moments of the game.

And Yeah, this is the Swan Song for Belichick.

I kinda wish they didn't copy the cinematography as it looks way too fluid for animation. Other than that, this is incredible
