Submitted For Your Approval...A Rod Serling Biopic

According to Deadline, a deal has been struck to bring the life story of writer/producer Rod Serling, creator of, among other things, The Twilight Zone and Night Gallery, to the big screen.

The story details that Andrew Meiran of Bureau of Moving Pictures has acquired the official rights from Serling's widow, Carol (who will also serve as producer). The screenplay will be written by frequent Oliver Stone collaborator Stanley Weiser.

"Rod Serling was one of the true visionaries in television history," Meieran said. "He single-handedly broke the mold and established television as a powerful artistic medium capable of changing the world when used wisely."

Like the late Gene Roddenberry, Serling realized that a fantasy series gave him the opportunity as a writer to explore issues that he never would have been able to on regular dramatic fare at the time. Serling remains a visionary, whose creations continue to live on... in The Twilight Zone.

Oh, and that video tribute is wicked. So many classic TZ moments!

I think Tim Burton should direct the movie. Keep it in the vein of Ed Wood and I think it would turn out amazing.

Anyway I think this is an excellent idea! I loooooove TZ!

One of my all time favorite shows! And Serling was a fascinating person.

I have about a dozen of the classic Gold Key Twilight Zone comics and they are stellar

I had the misfortune of having to spend a week in Binghamton,NY for a week long business conference. The town closes at 6pm. BUT!... they did have a Rod Serling museum there. Binghamton being where the man originated from.

Cripes, gusto, your faceplant thingy is Burgess Meredith from many TZ episodes including one of the all time greats...Time Enough at Last. I would think that you care a little bit to at least suggest someone like Sylvester Stallone or Nick Nolte. Give Serling the gusto he deserves!

Rod Serling...the greatest TV show creator/visionary other than Gene Roddenberry of course.

I am curious though. Will the upcoming movie portray some of his political side (politics are not that interesting, as far as I am concerned) or his creative side (which would REALLY make the movie stand out)?
