Shazam: Fury of the Gods has added Rachel Zegler to its cast.
The 19-year-old up-and-comer is poised to hit the big time after joining the cast of Stephen Spielberg's upcoming West Side Story adaptation as Maria last year, and while no details on her Shazam 2 character are available, she is said to have a "key role" in the DC Comics sequel.
This news comes on the heels of fellow Colombian actress Sasha Calle landing the role of Supergirl in The Flash.
David F. Sandberg will return to the director's chair, and Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan are once again penning the script. Zachary Levi will reprise the title role of the Big Red Cheese. A rumor that Henry Cavill might make an appearance as Superman did the rounds last month, but was later debunked.
Plot details are still under wraps, but we do know that the sequel will feature more of the Shazam Family, and is expected to introduce some "unexpected villains."
Zegler took to Twitter to confirm the news, but didn't give us any hints about her character. Do you guys have any ideas?
Shazam: Fury of The Gods is currently scheduled for release in 2023.
