With Warner Bros.' DC panel in full swing, the studio has just released the first trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Tonally, it's exactly what we expected, though that's not a bad thing as the movie looks like an absolute joy. There's a giant dragon, lots of humour, and some great visuals as we reunite with the Shazam Family.
Interestingly, nearly everything we see here confirms that a recent plot leak for the Shazam! sequel is accurate.
That aside, Shazam! Fury of the Gods looks like another great family-friendly, fantasy blockbuster, and a movie perfectly suited to its Christmas release date. Billy Batson is clearly struggling with his newfound superhero status, though with Atlas' daughters out for blood, he'll have to step up and prove himself in what looks set to be the teenager's greatest challenge yet.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods continues the story of teenage Billy Batson who, upon reciting the magic word "SHAZAM!," is transformed into his adult Super Hero alter ego, Shazam.
Returning cast members include Zachary Levi as Shazam, Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Adam Brody as Super Hero Freddy, Ross Butler as Super Hero Eugene, Meagan Good as Super Hero Darla, D.J. Cotrona as Super Hero Pedro, Grace Caroline Currey as Mary Bromfield/Super Hero Mary, Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley, Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, Jovan Armand as Pedro Pena, Marta Milans as Rosa Vasquez, Cooper Andrews as Victor Vasquez, and Djimon Hounsou as Wizard.
Joining the cast are Rachel Zegler, with Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren.
David F. Sandberg directs the film from a script by Henry Gayden and Chris Morgan. Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set to open in theaters internationally beginning December 15, 2022 and in North America on December 21, 2022.
