SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING Sequel Casting Call Provides New Details On The Movie's Villain And More

We've already heard that Marvel Studios is looking for a femme fatale and two agents who will be working with her for the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel but now That Hashtag Show has revealed some very interesting details about the movie's villain. While the site is unable to reveal the character's identity, they do know that the script is calling for a baddie with "elevated ideas" and the studio is open to auditioning actors of any ethnicity and gender which is definitely an interesting/unexpected twist.

There have obviously been male and female versions of Doctor Octopus and the fact that Marvel is looking for actors who are 30 - 45 may lend some weight to that theory. That's all it is for now, though, and this could literally be any character from the Spider-Man mythos so we'll have to wait and see.

It's also revealed that Marvel is looking for an 18 - 24-year-old male lead of any ethnicity to play a high school student with leading man qualities who can hold his own with Tom Holland. Does that mean the studio is looking for a mother/son or father/son duo? Again, we don't know but pretty much anyone from Miles Warren to Michael Morbius and Spencer Smythe could be part of the sequel at this stage.

What do you guys think? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section.

Get ready for people freaking out about a non white Dr Octopus

@auditore - Yeah, heaven forbid the character should match the comic book counterpart at all in regards to keeping to original rendition. Let's cast anyone for the sake of inclusion. Octavius comes from Rome and he should be of Roman decent. He should also have a thick German accent. Alfred Molina is Spanish Italian, so we've already had a minority play him. Now is the time to make it right, but only if an actor can pull it off.

@RocknRolla - Look man the MCU never treated the comics as the holy bible since Iron Man 1 they've been changing things from the lore, for example Ego is Peter Quill's father in the MCU

@RocknRolla - Really stretching it to say Molina is a minority.

@auditore -
I honestly wouldn't mind a foreign Doctor Octopus. Many American doctors in real life are immigrants, so it would make sense as long as he still looks and acts like Doctor Octopus. In fact, some adaptations (such as Spider-Man: The Animated Series) have already made the character Germanic.

Not to mention that both The Spectacular Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Homecoming modernised the material by changing the races of certain characters (such as Ned Leeds and Roderick Kingsely), and no one seemed to care then.

I also wouldn't care if they made Roderick Kingsely black, like The Spectacular Spider-Man did, because Tony Todd would make an awesome Hobgoblin.

@Origame - Kind of a fair point and if they reach out to Molina to reprise the role, I would be all for it. All I'm saying is I want them to at least try to get it 100% right, minus the haircut and costume.

@Darkknight2149 - Now this, I agree with.

@auditore - we already had a decently accurate doc ock, I would be into seeing something a lil different. Marvel usually pulls off its deviations from the comics pretty well.

So, he needs to look exactly like Doctor Octopus from the comics, except for some minor things you don't care about? If this is all about being "100% accurate" then why does the skin color matter, but not the costume?

@Darkknight2149 - Now that would be bad ass, but since they will only do 3 solo spiderman movies, would rather see the MCU's version of Green Goblin, having Spiderman without Green Goblin is like having Batman without the Joker, plus Hobgoblin was only introduced because they didnt want to bring the Green Goblin back after his death

Well, Norman Osborn can't be a girl, so he's out.

For the film fetale, it's safe to assume that Black Cat and Silver Sable are off the table. Perhaps it's Scorpia or Jessica Drew.

@Darkknight2149 - So did you watch Homecoming? Mack Gargan was already introduced...soooo...

@Darkknight2149 - I'm thinking Drew, since we already got Scorpion in Homecoming, or at least his set-up.

@RocknRolla -
That's Scorpion, not Scorpia. The fact that we've already seen Mac Gargan just adds fuel to the fire in terms of Scorpia also making an appearance.

@Darkknight2149 - hmmm I forgot about Jessica Drew it could definitely be her

@Darkknight2149 - No it dooesnt. Gargan would appear before her as Scorpion
Darkknight2149
Darkknight2149 - 3/14/2018, 5:05 PM
@PeterSparker -
Gargan would obviously be Scorpion, and Scorpia (potentially in her civilian identity) would be a partner/henchman of sorts. The mentioning of a "femme Fatale" in the sequel and the Spider-Man: Homecoming after credits scene both lend credence to this.

Male lead of that age sounds like Harry Osborne but idk if they’d use him again or what his point would be with Ned around.
