Spider-Man: No Way Home is still playing in theaters, but many fans are understandably anxious to watch the movie at home. As of right now, Sony Pictures has yet to reveal a Digital or Blu-ray release date; however, the blockbuster's first streaming destination has been confirmed by Deadline.
In a piece looking at Starz's expansion plans, it's noted that Spider-Man: No Way Home is going to arrive on that service at some point in the next six months.
While that certainly narrows down the movie's streaming debut, it also confirms that those of you in the U.S. will need a Starz subscription if streaming is your preferred choice of viewing format. We're not sure how long the wall-crawler's latest big screen adventure will be exclusive to the service, but this does close the door on a Netflix or Disney+ for the foreseeable future.
Starz CEO Jeffrey Hirsch addressed the importance of nabbing a movie like Spider-Man: No Way Home by saying "you put the right shows and content around it so you can move customers that watch Spider-Man into one of your originals."
In terms of what this means for Sony's agreement with Disney to bring Spidey to Disney+, it's seemingly going to be a while yet due to pre-existing deals like this one. Hopefully, when Spider-Man: No Way Home does swing on to that service, it will be in the spectacular IMAX Enhanced mode.
