5 Things I Want To See in Spider-Man 2012

Here are a few things I'd like to see in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot.

1. NO WEB SHOOTERS! I personally loved the organic shooters portrayed in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man, and to me at least, they seemed more believable that he really had super powers (unlike with the other web shooters, which make it seem a little faker).

2. If they're gonna put Venom in any inevitable sequel, then he needs much more screen time than he had on Spider-Man 3. In fact, one of the flaws I had with it was that he had too little screen time, while Sandman took up the most of the three villains. I'd rather see Venom be the main villain of a movie. Oh, and a much more muscular version (like in Ultimate Spider-Man) would be awesome.

3. I would much rather not see the mask have big eyes (example: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.netbug.net/blognetbug2/wp-content/uploads/ultimate-spiderman.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.joblo.com/index.php%3Fid%3D236&usg=__DGsXbK8N43HHovVZNFu5N243TfY=&h=317&w=320&sz=20&hl=en&start=0&sig2=ScTgPFWoYDtGM-6xRTfnKw&zoom=1&tbnid=_JhqedqtMDZ9eM:&tbnh=121&tbnw=124&ei=aQsyTdyjEsP98AbzhNy-CA&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dspider-man%2Bbig%2Beyes%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1366%26bih%3D677%26tbs%3Disch:10,71&um=1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=439&oei=aQsyTdyjEsP98AbzhNy-CA&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=37&ved=1t:429,r:17,s:0&tx=55&ty=58&biw=1366&bih=677 ), because they feel very unnatural compared to an average-sized set. Also, it should match up with the rest of the suit perfectly.

4. I think they should stay truer to the comics (I mean really...Raimi originally planned in Spider-Man 4 to have Felicia Hardy [who becomes Black Cat] turn into the 'Vultress'...give me a break). Tobey Maguire, although playing Peter Parker/Spider-Man perfectly, seemed too old for the role of a high school student. Andrew Garfield, even though he's in his late 20s, already has that brilliant look of Spidey.

5. Last, but not least, take advantage of Spidey's villain gallery! One of the villains supposed to appear in 2012 Spider-Man is Proto-Goblin, who I have not heard of until they announced a 'Van Atter' will be in the movie (and that's coming from someone who's very familiar with the gallery). Spidey has perhaps the greatest villain gallery of any super hero (rivaled only by Batman), so if they're going to use mostly unknown villains, it'll only make the movie(s) weaker than they would if they incorporated more well-known villains (such as Vulture, Mysterio, Carnage, etc).

Well, here's my first editorial on here. Please keep the comments tame and not rude, and lemme know what y'all think!

"Andrew Garfield, even though he's in his late 20s, already has that brilliant look of Spidey."

You really can't say this until we see actual footage.

Pete can't make web shooters. Its just not real-the chemicals-the everything. They were Stan's idea. good for comics but when set with "real" people its hard to explain without people going Shmaooooo..
I guess we're gonna see the falling no web cartrage scene smh.

Also @gaston I don't mean to offend but are u joking? The spideyman is a mutant aka his innards have changed into something never seen before. When u say shit like that it contradicts the entire comic hero/mutant thing-so no reason to watch anyway. Spidey with in his body no one can say how much he can create but lets assume its comparable to sperm(constantly made) with shooters he is WAY more limited.

@PaulRom get your facts straight bub, Raimi didn't want the Vultress, The studio used a bunch of unreasonable b.s. to get Raimi to leave the project so that they could continue with a reboot.

@Gaston Sorry, when I said 'believable' I meant that organic web shooters would make it seem like Spider-Man did in fact have super powers. Otherwise, people will probably see the web shooters and go 'He doesn't have super powers! He just invented something that shoots web! He probably invented something to help him stick to walls too!", or do I not see the purpose of web shooters clearly enough? :P
@Deadshot True, but based on the one image I've seen of Garfield in the suit, I think he definitely has the look.
@earzmundo Sorry, I didn't have web shooters in mind when I said what I did about the comics. I honestly haven't read more than one Spidey comic, but I think that adaptations, for the most part, should stick close enough to the source material.
@TheGodd**nSuperman I know that either Raimi or the studio (pretty certain it was Raimi) who wanted Vulture AND Vultress in Spidey 4.
@ECRuoS Exactly...in fact, I don't know if this was a rumor, but I heard that even before a reboot was officially announced, that Sony wanted both Spider-Man 4 in 2011 AND a reboot in 2012, planned simultaneously.
Guys, sorry for any misunderstanding. Like I said, I'm not as familiar with the comic version of Spider-Man as I am with the movies and most of the video games' versions.

Gaston is right. Plus if the reboot studies modern chemistry and engineering, it is a possibility for such web shooters to exist. What I mean by this is that the film should base the webshooters on nano technology and the way carbon atoms line in super strong polymer carbon fibre fabrics and ropes. Peter is a scientist afterall, so I think he would indeed understand how to make a fluid based substance based on this actual science.

I was really hoping theyd stick with organic, but seeing as theyre going with web shooters this is the only way i can see them doing it with a bit of believability:

Peter studies chemistry and engineering, but that high school education is nowhere enough to create actual effective web shooters. but if they make it clear that, after the spider-bite, peter gains an insight into the creation of spider silk and all of that science then it would be more believable. peter uses his new insight into the chemistry of a spider to create his own web fluid.

@barber2323, wish this was facebook cos i would totally like the shit out of that comment!

Im super stoked for this reboot btw, Garfield is an amazing actor (see The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnasus), White is a babe (see everything she has been in) and the new suit is kick ass. Granted, i am not a huge spider-man fan, but this was needed after that God-awful interpretation, spider-man 3, that Raimi gave us!

@barber2323... my pleasure mate! i think people seem to forget that there was a time when there werent three or four comic book movies coming out yearly! I remember being excited about Batman & Robin (i do think its rubbish now btw)... but the fact is there was a time when we were genuinely excited about anything that might be slightly related to comics in anyform of main stream media!

I visit this site religiously, daily and am also sick of the negativity. Im a huge Batman fan, and DC comics in general, however the way Marvel are pumping their films out excites me. i will never be biased or negative and forever be grateful of the development of our favourite comic book heroes over the last 10 years!
