Joined by pro-surfer Joel Parkinson, Amazing Spider-Man 2 star Andrew Garfield surprised young Spidey-lovers at Bondi Beach in Sydney Australia and taught them to surf as part of Hunter Connect's Surfer's For Autism program. He spent his time supporting the kids by showing them the basics of surfing and cheering them on as they slowly learned to surf. He would help the kids up close and also let them sit back a few times and watch as Spider-Man rode the waves... and even lost his balance a few times! According to Wayne Hampton of Hunter Connect, it was all Andrew Garfield who wanted to take part in the program. "It was Andrews idea to touch base," he said, explaining that he was "very specific in wanting to do something with a local charity that supported children with autism spectrum disorder in the surf." Check out some photos taken the day of the event below!

Andrew Garfield returns as the titular character in Sony's The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on May 2!

We've always known that Spider-Man's most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. It is great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there;s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

STARRING:

Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man

Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy

Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro

Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn

Sally Field as Aunt May Parker

Paul Giamatti as Aleksei Sytsevich/The Rhino

You don't know who I am? Well sit back because my story is a beautiful tale of power and integrity, a captivating experience and ingenious story.

When I was sent to prison for a crime I didn't commit, I signed up for the weapon X program where I got some acid stuff in my eye which caused me to go blind except for whenever I shout the word, "SHAZAM." I was part of Project: Rebirth and given an indestructible shield, however I had gotten bitten by a radioactive spider which caused my father Odin to banish me from my home, only for both my parents to get shot in an alley. And to top it all off, I was exposed to gamma radiation when my mother died and I was abducted from Earth by a strange blue-skinned alien, which gave me the ability to teleport, shapeshift, read minds, and squirt milk from my nose.

"He's still a piece of shit. Worst thing to happen to Spidey since Quesada."

Woah chill. I don't think hes that bad. I mean peter in the ultimate comic books stuttered and other than that he was pretty spot on in the 1st one. My main complaint was the shitty writing, not the performances.

@JamesMan I just don't get why people do that stuff man, you can not like someone, but to call them a piece of shit because you don't agree with their performance or whatever is just stupid and deserves to be called out.

@Eustace: & did you ever think that having the logo on his board makes it somewhat magical for the kids? He's helping autistic kids learn to do something difficult & fulfilling and they are seeing it as being "taught by Spider-Man." Don't let your cynicism cloud your judgement of people...even if he was there just to promote himself, which I doubt, he's still doing more than I'll wager you are doing for the human race LOL!

@DrDoom: No one cares what you think. Crawl back under your bridge...

Much respect for Garfield for getting out there to help the kids enjoy the surf, not ideal conditions for a surf but how can anyone pass up a paddle & a wave! Great pictures too!
