Another Sony Exec Says "A Number Of Scripts" Are In The Works For SPIDER-MAN Spin-Offs

Earlier today, we heard further confirmation that Sony Pictures are considering expanding their Spider-Man franchise with a number of spin-offs. Well, Entertainment Chief Michael Lynton has now shed some further light on that, after telling investors today that "We do very much have the ambition about creating a bigger universe around Spider-Man. There are a number of scripts in the works." These will apparently feature various characters and villains from the movie series, and despite not offering any specific details on who exactly are in those scripts, he did reveal that Sony is "working closely with Marvel and Disney." They have a much better relationship with Marvel than Fox, so this should come as good news to fans. A crossover with The Avengers is still unlikely, but we could not be looking forward to everyone from Venom to Scarlet Spider getting their own movies or TV show. Who would you guys like to see? Sound off below!

That seems interesting, hopefully they have good game plan for keeping Spidey alive for a long time....I'm tired of reboots.

I have high hopes of Spidey popping up in an Avengers movie within the next 10 years. They'd be stupid not to come to an agreement and both make millions.

Sony owned heroes/villains that could get films:

Agent Venom (Flash Thomson)

Venom (Eddie Brock)

Black Cat

Prowler

Scarlet-Spider

Alpha?
.....that's all I can think of.

They should try and link it to the Netflix shows Marvel got cooking up. Andrew Garfield making a cameo on DD would be pretty awesome.

that last line made me smile :). hopefully they do something with this "great relationship with marvel" but yeah it is obvious they want much more to see spidey working in the same universe then fox wants their properties to tie in. I don't think spider-man will join the Avengers (nore to I really want him to) but I want to see him in the same universe. think of all the great films that can come from a spiderman film series?

Although a full-on crossover isn't really feasible, I think it would be cool if they find some small way to connect the MCU with Sony's fledgling Amazing Spider-Man universe. Really though, all I want are for the films to be good, and that'll be enough for me.

Please don't have him be a member of The Avengers.

The only Sony characters that should have spinoff movies are; Venom which should have both Brock(antagonist)and Thompson(protagonist) and Spiderman 2099. Those are the characters that can sucessfully work as solo films.

Q DC fanboys in cold sweat.

Imagine Iron Man and Hulk appearing in The Amazing Spider-man.

Imagine Spider-man appearing in the Avengers.

Yeah Spider-Man should never be an Avenger. These characters don't even need to appear in each other's films - but if there was a way to just acknowledge that they all exist as part of the same universe and tighten up the continuity for the general audience. It's silly for everything to exist in pocket universes. It's all Marvel. Allow characters to share villains and someday MAYBE plan a crossover if the right story calls for it. I think that's reasonable to hope for as a fan.

Venom should be the only person to get a spin of film. Black cat scarlet spider and so can help spidey. but don't spin off.

@ ParisSun

You are delusional if you think Sony or Fox will work with Marvel Studios on any crossovers. Right now Fox and Sony are bitch slapping Marvel for whoring themselves back in the day when they were hard up for cash!

And the remark of "working closely with Marvel/Disney" is simply saying nicely ummmmm we got to make sure we are not using any of their characters they have the rights to and vice versa!
