In an interview with Time Magazine, actor Dane DeHaan touches on his preparation for the role of Harry Osborn in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which is currently shooting in New York. He will begin production on the anticipated sequel to last year's reboot soon. "We're already here, and I've been preparing. Right now it's just about getting all my work done and bulking up a little bit. I'll start shooting fairly soon in New York." He also goes into some detail about his "intense" workout regime, saying that he weighs more now than he ever has before. "I work out incredibly intensely six days a week and I eat every two hours. Mostly proteins and veggies. I consume at least 3,000 calories a day. I’ve already gained seven pounds in six weeks! I weigh more right now than I’ve ever weighed in my whole life. I’ve always constantly had trouble putting on weight, so it’s actually a whole lot for me." The Amazing Spider-Man 2 stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones and Sally Field. The film is set to hit theaters May 2nd, 2014.

the amazing spider-man wasn't bad but its not better than spider-man or spider-man 2,i'd probably say it was slightly better than spider-man 3.

Just saw CHRONICLE, he's gonna be good as Harry Osborne. If he's started bulking up, does that mean he's getting ready for some stunts and fight scenes? Fight scenes involving the Green Goblin, perhaps?

Harry doesn't need to bulk up.

People are talking about all the villains separately like they're in different movies. People seem to forget that this is ONE movie. Electro is in it, Rhino is in it, and people are saying Lizard will be in it, and Norman Osborne as GG. This movie will be too crammed. Electro should be the main villain, Rhino should be a cameo, and Harry should become GG over the course of the movie and become GG in the third act.

It wasnt that bad!!! It lacked in the villain department. I always thought Lizard was a lame villain and the sequel should be much better with Electro and Rhino!

He must be playing the popular Harry from Ultimate Comics.

I will slap the shit outta Webb if he doesn't have Norman kill Gwen in the next one. Not a big fan of Emma Stone. It will be interesting to see if they still have Norman's glider kill him too. A lot of people may be upset that it repeats the Raimi film but hey, that's how it was originally written by Stan the Man.

STAY TRUE TO THE SOURCE MATERIAL MARVEL!...and everyone will be happy :)

its definitely too soon since the Raimi movies to be re-treading the Green Goblin and Harry Osborne storylines though.

Find a new Spiderman story to tell instead.

Dane bulk up? Andrew's the one that needs to bulk up. That guy is rail thin with no leg muscles. Especially for a guy that supposed to be jumping around a lot.

personally I was hoping for Ron Perlman to play the Rhino, I think he'd be perfect but I think Paul Giamatti is a good choice ... thats where my liking of the casting ends.

Harry is 5'10 170. Dane Dehaan was MUCH smaller then that the last time i saw him. so him bulking up is actually good news.

can't wait btw. TASM > Raimi's subpar trilogy.

A good film version of Hobgoblin might actually make me like this, despite however much Jamie Foxx butchers Electro. Colm Feore will make a bitchin Norm, I don't doubt that for a minute. As far as Paul Giamatti as Rhino...whoa. I guess we'll just have to see. I know it looks like Webb is really laying it all on the line with this one. He better hope it pays off.

I love how people are wigging out about "too many villains" already. First, Marc Webb has made it very clear he's laying groundwork down for movies beyond TASM2, so beyond Electro, we don't know just how much extra villain action we'll be seeing.

With DeHaan's frame, he could "bulk up" and still look perfectly average in normal clothes until you either take them off or put him into something that shows off the work he's done. Yes, I suspect we'll be seeing set-up activity from him on the villain front, possibly in the vein of Spectacular Spider-Man (where they set him up as the Goblin prior to revealing Norman), but I don't see him cackling his way across the screen on a Goblin Glider just yet.

While Paul Giamatti expressed interest in The Rhino, we actually don't know who he'll be playing. We don't know who Colm Feore will be playing. We don't know who Felicity Jones is playing. We don't even know what the deal with Michael Massee for the second film is, and in no way is Rhys Ifans even confirmed for this film (so the Lizard rumors are purely that, rumors).

Honestly, I'd expect a Goblin set up for the next film (very possibly for the infamous Night Gwen Stacy Died), I'd love to see Giamatti as The Rhino just because I think he'd be a blast to watch, but I don't see a knock down, drag out battle royal happening in TASM2.

Deep breaths everyone. It's early days yet.
