Descriptions Of The New AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Footage Shown At CinemaCon

Doesn't sound like a lot of new footage for Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man was shown at CinemaCon, but here are a couple descriptions of what was viewed.

In Las Vegas last night Sony presented their slate of films at CinemaCon. One of the more anticipated films on the docket was of course Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man. During the event Sony showed off brand new footage and what follows below are some of the descriptions.

First up is the most detailed account which comes from ComingSoon.net.

It opened with a shot of Spider-Man with his mask off looking down over the city with the voice-over saying that it's not an easy job and that he's made enemies as he's put the lives of his loved ones in danger, but the one thing he wants to find out is the truth about his parents. We see brief images like him being chased by the Lizard and burning cars hanging from the Brooklyn Bridge during this narration.

From there, we saw a lot of stuff and a few new things included a brief glimpse of Peter working on his webshooter and webbing exploded in his face, as well as Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker using his skateboard to get around some cars. A couple other new things included a shot of Rhys Ifans' Dr. Curt Connors first jacking up with the experiment that will help him grow his missing arm back, while also turning him into the Lizard. We also saw a lot more of Spider-Man's battle with the Lizard on the rooftops of New York, although it was cut up in a way that meant we only saw very quick and brief shots of the Lizard or various appendages.

Hit Flix has also posted their account of the new Spider-Man footage and dialogue.
The preview saw Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man soaring through the Manhattan skyline, taunting bad guys, hunting for his father and working up the nerve to ask out Emma Stone, who portrays romantic interest Gwen Stacy.

Stone's character is the daughter of a police officer who soon sets his sights on taking down Parker's masked vigilante. In one scene, he seems to succeed as he unmasks Parker, who kneels on the ground, his arms handcuffed behind him.

Stacy and Parker's courtship starts in a high school hallway. He struggles to ask her out after his uncle reveals that Parker keeps her picture on his computer screen.

Garfield's Parker is far less tongue-tied around bad guys. He pretends to be afraid of a knife in one scene before flinging the weapon away with his web.

The superhero flick has cars flying off bridges, Stone and Garfield locking lips, and moral warnings about choice and responsibility.

"No one seems to grasp the concept of the mask," Parker laments after yet another law enforcement figure asks about his identity.

The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field, the films swings into theaters July 3, 2012 in 3D!

I don't think that once Marvel get the rights back to Spider-Man that they need to make a Spider-man movie under their studio name... They could just put him in one of their other movies and intergrate him that way as everyone knows how spider-man became a hero. Rami stayed pretty faithful to the source material with his films.... I just wish marvel could get their Spider-man back as well as all the others (Daredevil/FF/Ghost Rider/X-Men)

Sorry...had to interject an unrelated topic, but check out Sam Bathe's review of the Avengers I caught online just now. 2 out of 5 stars, this prick gives it. "HATED" it was his exact phrase. Don't worry, it's spolier free, but it just made me mad, and I had to share!

that sounds good. but i would prefer a origin story first for both then a team-up. i honestly dont understand how people could hate the avengers, it had everything (humour, action, decent story, etc). however the only criticism i have is that the aliens couldve been a greater threat, but this isnt even a big deal.

i wonder what marvel has in store for the 2014 time-slot. we know that cap2 is 1 of the movies

Tarantino is a film maker not a Director for hire. He only Directs his own original movies that he writes himself. The only adaptation he's done was Jackie Brown based on a book by Elmore Leonard whom he is a huge fan of, but even then he altered it to fit into his own little Tarantinoverse. He's not the kind of Director who would do a superhero adaptation.

If Marvel some how manages to gain the rights to both Spider-Man and Fantastic Four, I would love to see a crossover between the two with a story based on Spider-Man #1
