DOCTOR STRANGE Star Mads Mikkelsen Wants To Play A Superhero But You'll Never Guess Which One

Mads Mikkelsen played the lead villain in Doctor Strange last year and has expressed interest in Doctor Doom but the actor has now revealed which superhero he'd be interested in suiting up as...

Despite being best known for playing psychotic villains, Mads Mikkelsen has now revealed that he's keen on playing a superhero one day! However, the man who has brought everyone from Hannibal Lecter to Le Chiffre to the big screen has a very specific character in mind and it isn't who you're expecting. Talking at the Tokyo Comic-Con, the actor said he'd like to take on the role of...Spider-Man?!

"If I had to pick one hero that I would love to play, that would be an older version of Spider-Man," said Mikkelsen. "I’ll do that. I’d be an old one, obviously! The funny thing about him being called Spider-Man is ironic, because he’s always been a boy." That's a fair point but what is it he loves about Peter Parker? Well, it sounds like he's a fan of the same thing most comic book fans love about Spidey.

"So if at any time they can live with my funny accent and an older Spider-Man, I’ll do it. Peter Parker is a fun character: He has a big mouth and he’s a little skinny guy, but he gets these enormous powers, which is every boy’s dream, right?" Mikkelsen could always an aged version of the wall-crawler in an adaptation of a story like Spider-Man: Reign but we probably shouldn't bank on it...

If he hadn't already been Kaecillius in Doctor Strange, and he worked with a dialect coach to hone in on the NY accent, then I could see it in a Reign kinda way. Very much doubt Marvel would go in that direction though.

Dude plays an awesome villain though, although I'm guessing he's probably not keen on being typecast. Still, DC should try to tap him for Sinestro or Mr Freeze.

I like the Reign idea. Also he could be Pete's mentor, Ezekiel.

Let's all take a moment and not fall into our cynical patterns and just recognize what he's saying here. Lots of people want to be Spider-Man on some level because the character just speaks to them. That's all I think he's saying.

Now, with the cynical realist lens back on, then I'll sign on to him as Doom. If he would be up for a role under a mask and some burn prosthetics, then I don't think anyone would really care that he was some Wizard with less than two dozen comic appearances, too. Given room to breathe, Doom could be one of the major characters and even antiheroes in the MCU.

@Spock0Clock - i read it the same way. H eknows he would never be spiderman, but he obviously has always loved the character and it would be wish fulfillment. Everyone can dream.

He’s be good as Doc Oc body switch with Spider-Man. Make him use a fake American accent at first and when he switches bodies he can use his accent.

Cast Miikkelsen as Doc Oc and have him become Superior Spider-Man.
