CBM: Could you tell me about your thought process on these alternate Spidey costumes?

Kelton Cram: First, make the body type look younger. Secondly, they wanted some recall to the original suit from The Amazing Spider Man comic. Lastly, they wanted to see lines in the suit, and different takes on the eyes/goggles.

CBM: When designing costumes for a film like this, do you think about the actor's comfort?

Kelton Cram: Yes, the suit needs to bend in the right places. However, at this stage it's mostly about the idea. Once the suit is approved, the real work starts - fitting to the actor's body.

CBM: For the web shooters, is it design over function?

Kelton Cram: Yes, exactly. They wanted to see ideas that could be technically 'clunky' in real life. Usually it's function first.

CBM: For a young artist that wants to become a concept artist, like yourself, what programs would you encourage them to master?

Kelton Cram: I strongly feel it is essential to master Photoshop and Zbrush at this point. Any other software just adds to your belt.

CBM: What other projects do you have coming up?

Kelton Cram: I worked on 9 films that will be released this year. To list a few: Michael Bay's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Fox's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Wachowskis' Jupiter Ascending. Those are the ones I'm looking forward to seeing the most!

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead. It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp...

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be directed by Marc Webb from a script written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner and James Vanderbilt. The film will star Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Sally Field as Aunt May, Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watson, Paul Giamatti as Rhino, Jamie Foxx is Electro and Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn. The Amazing Spider-Man sequel will swing into theaters May 2, 2014.

Wow great movie. As good as CA2, I liked it a bit more though cause of the chemistry between gwen and peter.

I don't get all the hate for this movie. I'd give it a solid 8/10. It's no "Spider-Man 2" but it's a lot better than "Spider-Man 3."

You know what i love about being Spider-man? You are miserable. Any fleeting happiness is just a set up for disappointment later. You have no best friend. No parents. No relationship that does not end in break up or death. No successful job even though your a genius. All you got in this world is superpowers and Aunt May. 5 movies of living one sad moment after the other.

The movie was much better than the first TASM and restored some hope in this franchise for me, i'd give it somewhere between a 3/5 & 3.5/5 . These designs are cool.

These costumes look better than what they used. I guess the third one we're going to get the Symbiote suit, huh?

Saw this movie earlier. While doesn't movie isn't outright bad but it's not a perfect 10 or "TDK" of the Spidey films. It had some cool moments....and also corny/cheesy moments. This movie learned from SOME of the mistakes of the last movie......only to make even bigger mistakes. A 6.5-7 is my rating for TASM 2.

@WelcomeBackFrank

Yeah, I agree it gets an 8/10' from me too. It kind of reminded me of the Spectacular Spider-Man episodes. Looking forward to the next film. It's not the best Comic book movie nor is it the worst but it was most certainly fun and compelling seeing how most of these characters will be set up for future films.

I think we'll see the symbiote make it's appearance in the third film when he takes on the sinister 6 the first time. Or at least the first half of the six.

The concept art is cool, but I think we can all agree that the suit they used in this film is perfection. I actually have interest in seeing this one (after having none for the first movie). However, some of the reviews of this film has left me a little leery.

I'm wondering of the symbiote suit will be more of a shinier elastic looking piece or will they just go the route of spider man 3 and make it solid black threading. I would really like to see that shiny black material. It has to look alienated.

I liked the design they went with for the movie. These guys are idiots to design something so different than the comics. If it ain't broke... Don't try to put your 'own stamp' on something "just because."

That second design looks a lot like Miles Morales' costume, and they said they wanted to make the character look younger. I know Avi Arad said Peter'd never be changed but it just makes you think...

The Spidey suits don't look that bad but i'm glad the studio went with the design which was in the film.

I like the first. I really wish they wouldn't have been so conservative with their ultimate design. A movie adaptation is the perfect place to try a new take on the classic design, but just reproducing the classic with ever so slight modifications is a bit dull.

I know everyone is entitled to their opinion but some of these CBMs are so glaringly flawed that it should be apparent how badly our fanbase is being taken advantage of when studios put out stuff like this. Anyone older than 15 should be able to tell the difference.

My real Spider-Man fans please stand up.

So that's how the Miles Morales suit would look. Hmmm can't wait to wear it
