SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME: Another Classic Villain May Have Been Confirmed To Appear In The Movie

We know that Mysterio will be Spider-Man: Far From Home's big bad but now another classic villain has seemingly been confirmed for the sequel. Who are we talking about? Things are heating up for Spidey...

Spider-Man: Far From Home will see the wall-crawler pitted against Mysterio but we also know that The Vulture will appear. Meanwhile, rumours are pointing to Chameleon and Hydro-Man showing up and now a new report points to Molten Man making an appearance. Mark Raxton debuted in Amazing Spider-Man #28 and his origin story is connected to Spencer Smythe, another character we've heard will be showing up alongside his son in the highly anticipated sequel from Marvel Studios and Sony.

This report comes via MCU Cosmic and the site claims that a Molten Man action figure is included in one of the toy lines being produced for the movie. That doesn't necessarily mean he'll be making an appearance on the big screen, of course, especially as toys don't necessarily reflect what happens on screen. Either way, it would certainly be interesting seeing him make a brief appearance in the sequel.

Right now, it may seem like Marvel is cramming a lot of villains into Spider-Man: Far From Home but bear in mind that the wall-crawler will be travelling across the globe and that could mean he crosses paths with all manners of characters. We'll have to wait and see but if we're lucky, we'll find out more about what to expect in the coming months. In the meantime, share your thoughts and theories below.

Makes sense, since he is Liz Allen's (half-)brother.
But weren't people always saying a Spider-Man movie can't carry many villains?

@BootyPeep - I always felt that he is an exception because his character works very well when dealing with multiple personalities and tense situations. It really puts his heroism into perspective against other heroes.

@smgmayhem - I agree with that. I was just qouting usual criticisms many people had towards other movies that did that.

Headline: villain may have been confirmed

Article text: This is just a toy listing and probably doesn't really mean anything

Its probably because someone spotted them filming with lighter fluid and some charcoal in a few scenes.

The use of more B tier, even C tier villians is something these films should continue to capitalize on.

I want to see The Spot show up.

@BlackBeltJones - Dollars to donuts these C-list villains will only be hallucinations/tricks from Mysterio to slow Spiderman down so he can make his escape.

@SuperManes - hmmmmmm interesting idea

@SuperManes - I was also thinking this could be the case. While the hardcore fans would be disappointed (looking at you IM3), it could work and might be a fun way to get some screen time for 2nd and 3rd their villains that otherwise never would have made it into a film. I just hope they’re not trying to cram in too much for fear of losing Spider-Man back to Sony if they can’t nego a deal extension. However, I think Sony and Marvel will be able reach common ground and keep him in the MCU beyond the existing agreement.

On a side note, I’m kind of annoyed with all these comments on various articles saying Marvel should or needs to shelve the X-Men for 5 -10 years. That’s just dumb. 1) Disney spent a crap ton of money to acquire Fox. I understand that X-Men and F4 are a small portion of the IPs they gained, but there’s no way they spent so much just to sit on them. 2) The MCU take will be very distinguished from the Fox versions, and will not confuse audiences. Further, Marvel has become such a trusted brand, general audiences will understand Marvel will bring something different to the table, and will not avoid the MCU versions due to burnout from the Fox versions.

I chose this article to make those statements because ASM2 was 2014, only two years later Soider-Man was in Civil War and gen audiences and fans alike were pretty hype about it. Spider-Man HomeComing was only a year later in 2017, and has a sequel coming only two years after that. Homecoming performed very well, much better than ASM2, so there’s no reason to think that the same wouldn’t or couldn’t happen with X-Men. I say 5 years MAX, and mostly due to practical reasons like working out the story to introduce them in the MCU, devising what properties exactly to move with first, and scripts written and othe talent attached. Marvel can move quickly and with high quality execution, and I believe they will with both X-Men and F4.

@BlackBeltJones - The spot is underrated. His design and power set have so much potential on film.

"Right now, it may seem like Marvel is cramming a lot of villains into Spider-Man: Far From Home."

No, no it doesn't....

because we literally have no confirmation of any villain or new character. Hell, I don't even think Jake Gyllenhaal has been confirmed.

Until official Marvel confirmation, all of these are theories and rumors.

@Menks123 - since there is talk of all these villains showing up it does "sound like" they are cramming a lot of villains in it. We'll see what they end up going with but right now it "sounds like" a lot.

Quick history lesson. Molten Man, co-created by Stan Lee and the late Steve Ditko, first appeared in ASM #28 (1965)
