SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE Composer Says Crew Won't Discuss BEYOND As They Continue "Recovering"

It's no secret that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was a challenging production for those who worked on it, and the movie's composer has elaborated on that while revealing why he won't discuss Beyond!

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse was originally set to be released in theaters on March 29, 2024. However, between multiple release date delays for both that and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and comments this past June from the cast saying they hadn't recorded their lines, we weren't buying it!

Unsurprisingly, Sony later confirmed Beyond the Spider-Verse's release date was "TBD," while VFX artists who worked on the second instalment revealed how hard it was to contribute to the animated franchise in a scathing exposé.

From last-minute changes to completed scenes to a lot of overtime, it was clearly a gruelling production. Now, due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, work on Beyond the Spider-Verse is thought to have been halted (the cast can't record their lines, for starters), news which may have been welcomed by the crew.

During a recent interview with Games Radar (via Toonado.com), the franchise's composer, Daniel Pemberton, was asked what he could share about the next movie and didn't seem keen to discuss the third chapter.

"Don't talk about it," he responded with a laugh. "Everyone in this film, there’s a sort of pact, no one will talk about the next film because we're all still in recovery from the second one."

Elaborating on Across the Spider-Verse's challenging production, he added: "There'll be multiple different approaches on pretty much every scene in the movie. The directors and the producers and the writers, they want to try everything out and they're always pushing how to make the movie better. As a result of that, you end up writing a huge amount of music that just ends up in the bin, but I'm used to that as a composer."

"If you want to push the boundaries, you get prepared to fill the bin up with the stuff that doesn't work or could be better."

There are rumblings that the final chapter of this trilogy won't swing into theaters until as late as 2026, so that big cliffhanger isn't going to be resolved any time soon. You can't rush perfection and it sounds like everyone involved will benefit from avoiding the pressure that comes with a release date that's set in stone.

In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Miles Morales returns for the next chapter of the Oscar-winning Spider-Verse saga. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn's full-time, friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence.

But when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.

The movie stars Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Karan Soni, Jason Schwartzman, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Greta Lee, Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone, Shea Whigham, and Oscar Isaac.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is now available on Digital and Blu-ray.

@RebelCommander - From what I've heard, the VFX artists who worked on the second installment revealed how hard it was to contribute to the animated franchise in a scathing exposé. From last-minute changes to completed scenes to a lot of overtime, it was clearly a grueling production.

@Rastarapha - Slavery is still a different beast, buddy. They were overworked and paid unfairly, which is obviously not right. But they were paid and not beaten into submission or branded like cattle.

The score was sooo good. They were playing it in the lobby of my local cinema as I was waiting to see a movie recently and it made me want to buy it. Very good work.

Take your time with Beyond. It's gonna be hard to top the first two and bring it home for a trilogy finale. Lets just enjoy the second one for the next couple of years before we start getting excited about the third one.

I don’t care how long it takes as long as the crew are treated fairly and it’s good.

Still the best movie of 2023 and i don't think anything still announced will be coming close.

In fact i liked Super Mario Bros 2nd best and Turtles 3rd best.

I bet X-Men 97 will be spectacular too.

Besides The Creator and The Killer there isn't anything really exciting left, although i'll probably enjoy Killers of the Flower Moon.

Evil Dead Rise
John Wick 4

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3

Were all better than Spider-Man:Across The Spider-Verse,not saying it was a bad movie, it was good but a little over hyped.
