Man Of Steel Chicago Video Set Report

Nothing much revealing on here, but a video report for the locations where the new Superman movie will film on Chicago has been posted. Check it after the jump!

Zack Snyder's Man of Steel has moved down the road from Plano, Illinois to Chicago, where the production will start shooting today for the next 10 days through September 17. After that, the production will head to Vancouver for the rest of the shoot.

The video report is from the Chicago Business which reports that the Chicago Board of Trade building (that was previously used for Wayne Tower in Batman Begins) will be used as The Daily Planet in the movie, while Willis Tower in the city will serve as the newspaper's interiors.

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone's imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question - Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. With a cast that includes Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent, Diane Lane as Martha Kent and Michael Shannon as Zod. Man Of Steel is coming on June 14th, 2013!

Damn, July 2013 is a long ass time.They really should have kept that December 2012 release.I mean, I'm excited now and we've still got 22 months to go.

Think about it.Man of Steel started filming 3 months after The Dark Knight Rises, but it's coming out a whole year later.I know they have more filming, but it's still a long time.

It's going to be torture waiting on this thing.Unless things have changed, they're supposed to film until March/April, so we'll probably see a teaser/first footage at ComicCon.That's a little under 11 months.Wow.Long time.

He mentioned Kevin Costner. Is that a mistake? or do we expect to see Jonathan in Metropolis? Do you think the Kents will be in Metropolis?

@jenniferjuniper These "journalists" don't know what they're talking about much of the time...one of the channels also mentioned "phone-booths", forget which, as if it was a given, so their mentioning Costner is probably meaningless & random...

@HenryCavillFanpage, it was reported by a few outlets that they'd be filming until April, probably with breaks.

That was only about a month ago, so I'll assume it's still April, as I haven't heard anything different.Did you read somewhere that it was January?

I feel the problem with GL was not the CGI in post. It was the script.

How do you think CK will change into Superman in this new film? I don't think he will be wearing the cape under his regular clothes, because in the more realistic tone of this film, you can't even hide the smaller Chris Reeve cape under your clothes without looking like you have a hump back. Does he stash it somewhere and put the cape on after the shirt rip? or do you think he doesn't even wear the tights at all under the clothes, and put the whole suit on like Batman does.

@comic2004: It is definately going to have more action than Returns did. Plus, I think Snyder is the man to do it. Sucker Punch's action was incredible. The story was ok, but the action..... great.

Some filming going on at Willis Tower right now. Amy Adams spotted with, um ... Well, "the source" said Sam Jackson. That second one threw me for a loop. I reckon that was probably Larry Fishburn, which makes Willis Tower the Daily Planet ... At least for window shots.

I didn't say anything as to the quality of GL. I'm saying WB doesn't want to have to increase the films budget by 9 million a few months before release again just to make sure the cgi doesn't look like crap. They can't afford to half-ass post-production...They bit off more than they could chew with GL with the amount of cgi to complete in the time-frame they had. I would rather they take all the time they need to get this one right, I don't want to have to wait another 30+ years for a decent Superman movie.

I'm here and work Downtown, we call The Loop, and they started local production this morning.. I hope to catch some pics on my way to work one morning. Transformers totally took over this area, and we've heard this won't be as scaled as that.
