The Amazing Spider-Man is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

I'm over the whole reboot complaint. I'm just stoked to get another Spiderman film on the big screen. How cool is that? Spiderman was my hero of choice as a kid.

@rueda: When the first spiderman was released, fanboys complained that mary jane was in not gwen stacy and he had organic web shooters. they also complained that the cg was sloppy. my biggest and the only complaint i still can't get past is that the green goblin looked like a power ranger.

i laugh when people complain about spiderman 3. spiderman 1 had just as many gripes from the fan community but for some reason is looked at in a kinder light now.

i will reserve judgement until i see the movie, but the trailer makes it look like batman begins. and that bugs the hell outta me

Top 4 favorite heroes are Superman, Hulk, Spiderman and Wolverine. I could watch any movie involving them. Thor is pulling up close after that (but movies have to be done right), then Batman, Cap(old movies were ridiculous. lol), BPanther and Silver Surfer. Iron Man is not even a favorite of mine, but I still love IM comics and movies. The non-superpowered or agility/MA fighting characters should put more emphasis into the fighting (Jet Li type action) and parkour stunts. Batman did that with Batman Begins, but not as much in TDK. Cap was more super strength and shield based, which fits, but we didn't really see his insane reaction time and martial abilities. Spidey had some brutal fight scenes. They could have emphasized his speed better, but the bully scene displayed his 30x human reaction time well.

Blade did an amazing job displaying the martial arts integrated fight scenes.
