I hope they ditch the new suit and go back to the classic. That will remove some of the gayness.

@luffycapri

There's no way it takes just 3 months to film an action movie.

Spidey film shoot is 90 days. But that doesn't mean 3 months. They don;t film every single day. You have to think about the traveling, shooting in different locations, getting permits for shooting there, making sets and whatnot.

Its not like all the sets are built by the first day of shooting either.

The 90 days of filming are spread apart. It takes more like 4-5 months to film a good action movie

Didn't the same people bashing on this movie beg for a reboot the second they finished watching the 3rd installment? Come on guys! Give it a chance, the suit is more modern, the web shooters follow the comics, Peter will actually be in high school rather than 1/8 of the movie!.... What more do you want!

Seems like its going with more visual effects than CGI like Nolan did for Batman Begins/Dark Knight. Awesome!

I'll probably sit in the theater while this is playing and give it a skeptical chance too. I hope that it is worthy of the ticket price, but I'm not holding my breath.

Freshkicks1212 - 4/29/2011, 4:56 PM
@dmm5 no the suit is just shit...there are some iconic things which defines a character, that just should not be changed. I understand them wanting to be different as a "reboot" from the previous series but They could have still improved the suit without having to change it for the worst like they did.

SLEDGE you don't know ANYTHING about this movie yet, so please don't judge it. You're acting worse than Grif. I don't jump to decisions as soon as i hear about a movie. I wait until more set photos come out, then trailers. THEN and only then can you have a valid opinion about a movie.

What exactly is it about this movie that has ticked you off? The fact that it's a reboot, the costume, what? Please tell us. :|

There's oh so many reasons... I'll chime in with a few since some of you are curious (Can't go on and on because I'm at work).

Reboot: I am with the crowd who thought that the first Spider-man was decent, the second was great, and the third was cinematic diarrhea. With that being said, we've seen three movies of Spider-man "discovering himself" and figuring out who he is, and now we are presented with a reboot that will be taking him back to high school, origin style. The last trilogy is still so fresh in everyone's mind that I just don't see starting over from scratch as intriguing. I also believe that the GA is sick of origins for characters that are already established.

Andrew Garfield: Everything about him, from the new Spidey Suit to his giant hair bugs me. I don't like the choice of actor and feel that the chick who plays Gwen looks almost bigger and like she could beat him up.

The way in which this movie came about: Granted I don't have any love loss for Sam Raimi nor the former actors, but the sole reason for the reboot was because Raimi wanted more time than Sony wanted to give him to make a movie. The whole project feels rushed. I don't like any of the set photos I've seen and there has yet to be one thing about this movie that has me excited and looking forward to it.

The Lizard: I feel that Spider-man is best when he has to out think his enemy. The dialogue has always been an important part of the comics and while Peter can cut some one liners, I don't see how Dr. Conners is going to fill an entire movie by himself. It feels like the best villains (Goblin, Doc Oct, Venom) have already been used (though some of them poorly). The Lizard has always seemed like a filler villain and not a dire threat.

There's more reasons... lot's more... but I've got work to do so I will leave it at that for now.

ellispart3 - 4/29/2011, 6:39 PM
@sledge i see where you're coming from, but something needed to be done because going onward from spider-man 3 is a very challenging. not saying impossible, but probably easier to hit reset, and entice fans who were pissed about el spidey tres.

Garfield i feel is almost dead on for a young peter parker, doesnt need to be big at all the be the webslinger. that was his appeal, the ultimate underdog...besides underdog.

i agree with you on sony's business plans, but i wouldn't say it feels rushed, they've been talking about this movie since early last year. an average movie takes only a few months to shoot, and it seems on track for that.

the lizard always did feel like a tertiary character, but depending on how they play him it can be cool. either hes a beast lurking the streets commiting crimes they blame on spider-man..or hes a beast with a mind of a pissed off scientist. its all in how you write it.

you do you at work man, good talkin to you

I think this movie will be a blast and that it will be the best Spider-Man film we'll have yet seen, and closer to canon.

Andrew Garfield will own the part from his first scene, Spidey has traditionally been drawn as a rather stringy character and the the new portrayal will emphasise this.

The use of practical effects over CG - how refreshing and REAL is that? The more 'real' action we see will engage us far more with the end result.

Tobey Maguire was TOO OLD to make another Spider-Man film. It really was the right time to change tack and reboot.

The new suit is great. An almost identical suit has been seen in print, so it's not like they're re-inventing the wheel here, and you have to have some love for the mechanical web shooters.

Back to high School for Peter Parker - the early Lee/Ditko (and Romita) stories throw up so many interesting and memorable villains and situations, there's such a wellspring of inspiration, it's hard to go wrong.

We've been teased through three movies with Dr Connors, it's about time we finally saw The Lizard. So we haven't seen any concept art yet. The film's not out for another year, have a little patience and try not being so pessimistic.

The Amazing Spider-Man will be brilliant, and we'll all love it.

Some are just afraid of coming out and admitting that they might.

NeoBaggins
NeoBaggins - 4/29/2011, 9:35 PM
SLEDGE Those are valid reasons. It's pretty much a rush job. If the films had to be rebooted, some quality time and planning should have been put in for a later date and better cast. I like the Lizard though. I wish Conners had turned into the Lizard in the Raimi films but I guess they were fine where he was. But this whole thing now seems so underwhelming and cheap. And just like you, I have yet to see anything regarding this film to get me interested. I actually keep forgetting it's coming out.

Ha! Well look at that! Its another fight between both-sides: Those who hate and those... Those who "love" it, if you want to call it that? How many times do "I" have to "Say" "IT", "It was "rushed", it had "pottential "Spider-Man 4". If your a true "Spider-Man 4" then, who see what was "Really going-on" and pull your head out of your asses; because friends... Spider-Man is being rapped by Corrate America! who do we blame...? Not ourselves, but Sony, Luara, and Avi Arad. Sure some say, "blame the "new actors" wheater it is their fault or not... but I say, "Think of the children... the children, of today, tommarow and the, future. Without them, tears would run-down checks, like rivers, then they would lose all hope... for humanity, the wold and probably... themselves? Do you really want to live in a world like this? I don't, so beleive that anything is possible and Bring back the "Orginal Actors"; so someday we may see a: Spider-Man 4: The movie! That is all I have to say for now...

@Justice, how about spell check?

This movie will be good, not great. It will not receive the same hype as the original but will do well, people love Spiderman.

Those who wanted a Spiderman 4 need to be check, psychologically. After the third Spiderman Stan Lee should have had Spiderman killed to make sure that he would never be raped so hard again.

I'm excited for the new one, but not to excited. Their is no way it can be worse than the third one.

The problem with Raimi's is the characters didn't feel real enough. The suit may be bad, or look like Nike designed it, but Garfield and Webb will bring Peter to life much more faithfully. The only thing that could ruin this for me is if Spidey doesn't have a sense of humor.
