While the past few decades have seen the creation of such classic Spider-Man villains as Venom, Carnage and Morlun, there can be no doubting the fact that the real classics were brought to life in the 1960's by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. With The Amazing Spider-Man bringing the Lizard to the big screen for the first time, most fans are hoping to see more of the duos characters introduced in the recently announced sequel. Although Sam Raimi's trilogy gave us Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus and Sandman, there is nothing stopping new director using them again...especially as the portrayal of them in the past was vastly different to the originals in many respects. I asked you guys to vote on which of these classic villains you'd most like to see when the sequel hits the big screen on May 4th, 2014, and the results were quite the shocker...

That's right, it was Mysterio who came out on top! Personally, I thought it would be the Green Goblin or someone like Electro who would win by a mile, and while they along with Kraven and Scorpion did well, you guys clearly see the potential in the master of illusions facing off against Spidey! Why? Well, be sure to share your thoughts on that in the usual place!

Meh. I think Chamaleon would be a great villain in a sequel. But if Mysterio what you guys want, okay.

Not quite that shocking. Rumors of Mysterio have been going around since the Raimi films. Still good to know that fans want him.

They shouldn't use him in the sequel, but we have yet to see justice done to Venom, one of the greatest villains in comics.

what are we getting all hyped up for...shouldnt we wait to see what has even been done with LIZARD in this coming movie? Yoiu may just all decide you want ANOTHER reboot with a different version of the LIZARD. LOL.

I voted for Scorpion, but Mysterio would be sick as anything as well. Almost any of the villains on the list I would approve of, but what I really, really, really want is a Sinister Six movie. Really really.

Personal I thought they should have went with spidey's first villian ever in the comic books Chameleon, and maybe electro on the side in the first movie. Have Conors have a cameo.

Then have Lizard be the villian in the 2nd movie with Kraven trying to hunt the Lizard down, with spidey's trying to stop him.

Then proto-goblin, and Mysterio, and having the whole movie with Proto-Goblin be an illusion.

Black Cat? Anne Hathaway was original meant to play her but her fee was too high...but she did ok with another Cat.

And every villain in the Sinister Six doesn't have to be introduced each in their own film, there could be two per film, and possibly one or two could be introduced in the Sinister Six movie itself, if the pacing of the film was correct. And please no "Let's fight Spidey one at a time!", like the first annual. (What a horrible plan!)I want to see six on one and I want to see Spidey win.

I think Scorpion could be an interesting challenge to Spidey. Didn't think Mysterio would win. He is interesting, but I don't know if he could carry a whole movie, IMO

That makes senswere since The Lizard and Mysterio were both teased in the previous films...

i want venom done right, mostly to possibly make the way for Carnage who IMO is the best spidey villain

Mysterio would rock! They'd really have to play him up as more than just a special Effects guy though.

What makes Spider-Man so great is that he has some of the best villains ever created.

I would actually like to see Tombstone, and Kraven next.

All of them I see being future villians except Molten Man, he seems the most obscure. Scorpion alittle bit, and maybe spider-slayer.

Goby or Ock.

Mysterio could be the coolest spidey villain yet. Kraven was a close second.
Jer3miah

Even though I still stick with my original choice of Scorpion, I can agree to Mysterio as well. He gives Spidey quite a challenge in the 90s series and his story is pretty damn movie-worthy. He would be a psychological villain, much like Scarecrow. I think that's why he won. People who loved Scarecrow wanted to compare the two and experience a similar battle like in Batman Begins. This is very understandable, but they should add an additional villain who pops up halfway through the movie, like Two-FAce did in TDK. All we need is SUPERB scriptwriting.

@KNIGHT300: I could DEFINITELY see that being an appropriate route for a later installment. As far as the stronger villain part goes, it should be Rhino. What you stated actually happens in the 90s cartoon. Except, Spidey requests Venom's help about 40 episodes later when MOrdo gave the suit back to Brock. Its the best route; the 90s show, HANDS DOWN.
StrangerX
StrangerX - 8/9/2011, 10:02 AM
He's not who I want in the next movie but Mysterio is the obvious choice.

I hate your polls' structure. Why dont you organize the results by rank? it looks so sloppy this way. Thats why I dont bother with them.

All the best villains (besides the lizard) were used in Raimi's films but I always loved Mysterio, just not for a film.

They should go the Ultimate route if they ever go with Electro...but I can't get past how people like Mysterio when he is the most useless [frick]ing villain in Spider-Man's rogue gallery. Complete waste of a poll...

I also hope for this series that they'll do Venom and Green Goblin right.

Yes, Mysterio deserves some movie love. Would like to see him and Doc Ock together maybe for the second film so they can incorporate the death of Captain Stacy. Then for the third film, Green Goblin, death of Gwen. Fourth film Spidey with the black suit facing off against Electro and maybe Vulture/Rhino, this would also incorporate Harry getting into drugs and the introduction of MJ. Then fifth film all Venom.

Mysterio would be cool but i would like to see one of these.

ELECTRO: He would be great stand alone villain.
HOBGOBLIN: I think it would be great to see Hobgoblin as the main villain. Roderick Kingsley should be Osborn´s rival competitor or something and he should steal Osborns invention. The chemical which gives it user super strength but the side effect is insanity. Also it would be cool to see him brainwash Ned Leeds to act as his stand in so that everybody the criminal underworld and Osborn would think that he is Hobbie. And finally in the end of the film Peter/Spidey would find out the real identity.
MORBIUS: Peter fights against his genetic mutation and finally change into The Spider-Monster (from 94´s Spider-Man cartoon). Morbius fights against his mutation and finally change into The Bat-Monster (from 94´s Spider-Man cartoon). Epic battle is inevitable.
KRAVEN & CHAMELEON: The Russian Half-Brothers against Spider-Man/The Spider Monster.

I would have thought Scorpion. Things always fare well when opposites face off
