It seems that Huthcherson may not be Spidey after all, or at least, not yet. Several sites(Bleeding Cool and CHUD among them) are claiming that its unlikely that he will be offered the role because of conflicting schedules. Hutcherson is filming a sequel to Journey To The Center Of The Earth soon and Marc Webb's Spidey reboot would clash with that.
But the best part of the story is this from CHUD...
..But not so fast. I have sources that cast some doubt on this. At the very least Hutcherson has not yet been offered the part. He very well could still get the offer (although some of my sources have placed doubt on this), but as of this morning there was no solid casting of Hutcherson.
I've heard rumors that Hutcherson is a favorite for the role of Cyclops in X-Men: First Class, but I can't verify that at the moment. Between Hutcherson and Michael Fassbender, it's interesting seeing how much overlap there may be in the casting of these two Marvel projects.
Another rumor for the collection. I very much doubt(or do I just hope?) this kid would be up for Cyc, but worth putting out there until we know a bit more. The main thing is, it would seem Mr Hutcherson is far from locked into the Peter parker role for the moment. I'm not sure what to think here. Although that Disney site would seem like a very strange place to break news of a Sony production, apparently they are usually fairly reliable with their scoops.
Anyway, I'm sure quite a few people will hope this isn't finalized yet, and another actor may be in with a shot. But what about that Cyc rumor? If its difficult to imagine this kid as Peter parker, what about a young Scott Summers?
