When Tom Holland was doing the rounds to promote Spider-Man: No Way Home and Uncharted, the actor repeatedly made it clear he wasn't signed up for any future Spider-Man movies and was mulling over whether it was the right time to leave the role behind.
It felt like a public negotiating tactic and one which seemingly paid off as Holland recently hinted he'd been close to signing a deal for Spider-Man 4 prior to the WGA strike.
Unfortunately, that saw discussions come to a halt and since then, SAG-AFTRA members have joined writers on the picket lines. Still, it's a step in the right direction, as was the recent rumour Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are returning to the MCU for this next chapter.
We've also heard on several occasions that Spider-Man 4 will serve as a sequel to both No Way Home and Daredevil: Born Again.
In the movie, Peter Parker - now a street-level superhero akin to his comic book counterpart - supposedly teams up with the Man Without Fear to take down Mayor Wilson Fisk after the Kingpin of Crime sets out to bring an end to vigilantes.
That's a storyline teased by a very impressive new fan poster which comes our way courtesy of @sweenyswoot.
As you can see, Daredevil is finally in a comic-accurate red costume - "DD" logo and all - while Anya Taylor-Joy is suited up as the MCU's Black Cat. The Kingpin looms large, while we're particularly pleased to see both Zendaya's MJ and Donald Glover as Prowler following his Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse cameo.
It's impossible to say whether this will resemble what we actually see in Spider-Man 4, but if the movie were to head in this direction, we'd have zero complaints. It's just a shame a movie we once expected to be released next year now probably won't be with us until 2025 or beyond.
