The musical which is helmed by Julie Taymor, with music and lyrics by Bono and the Edge of U2, has had a troubled journey so far with several delays, cast alterations and financial problems. However, it now appears that the show has one more chance to get itself together for a tentative release of this Christmas.
According to a report over at Variety, "Marvel is said to have recently granted its fifth extension to the producers for the stage rights to the comicbook wallcrawler. Insiders say that in-progress prep work for the technically ambitious production has included a flying workshop that was held last week in Vegas and green-screen footage being shot in Gotham this week. Construction at the Hilton Theater is ongoing."
The site also goes on to say that, "...the recent fifth extension would likely be the last," meaning that if they cant get the production sorted this time (which is rumoured to have surpassed $50 million so far) that really will be the end of Spider-Man's journey to Broadway.
