TASM: Denis Leary Hints That We May See George Stacy In Future Movies

Despite many fans assuming that ol Captain Stacy would be going the way of the comics..in other words dying!..that may not be the case. Check out what he has to say.

Speaking at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour today Denis Leary discusses working on Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man. He talks about his co stars as well as hinting that this movie may not be the last we see of his character Cap George Stacy.

He began by saying that he was going to "ride Spider-Man", and that he's "doing Spider-Man 4, 5 and 6!" This was a joke, but he has an interesting response when asked about using a cane as his character does in the comics.

From IGN..

"Andrew's just a terrific actor – I really loved working with him. I think he's great. Same thing with Emma. They're both actually more mature than I am and that says a lot right there. They're really incredibly talented and really professional. She's 22 years old. I don't want to tell you what I was doing when I was 22. I was very impressed by her."

Leary was asked if his George Stacy would use a cane, like in the original comic books. His reply was a bit interesting for those pondering the franchise's future as he said, "No. Not yet anyway!"

Between Stacy's comic book death and shots from the movie of his onscreen daughter Gwen(Emma Stone)attending a funeral, I think we all assumed that this would be the only movie we would be seeing Denis Leary in. Of course he might just have been joking around but you never know. What do you think?

If I could pick anybody to go to the bar and have a few beers with, it would be Dennis Leary.

...but yes, he will die.

This is the last of the trilogy, so I doubt we will see him again. More than likely a reboot or else it isn't the last of a trilogy anymore if they continue on from this story.

@soda9 - It could be a city in mourning or something. Uncle Ben could of been a father figure to everyone

I remember in an interview from some time back, Emma Stone said that she couldn't comment on whether or not Gwen Stacy will survive this film. But she also said that she's signed on for 'several' films, so we'll have to wait and see.

Unfortunately I believe Captain Stacy will have a building fall on him in the first movie. Nobody is letting on much of the story of ASM, and I think if he continues on through out the movies it is going to be in flashbacks. His death sets up a lot of Gwen's character for the second movie, and her hatred for Spider-man. Which will then put Gwen in danger at the end of the second movie.

@ Paulrom. Why would Gwen die in the first film, unless it was at the hands of the Goblin. So many fans would be pissed if that happened. With respect, I'm not sure about you but I want her to actually be developed well so that when her death DOES come hopefully near the end of this new trilogy, it has meaning. Let's all face it no one wants her to complain and bitch like freakin Mary Jane in the other films.

Connors better not die. Getting tired of villains dying in comic movies UNLESS it's the Green Goblin, because he actually dies in the comics.

AskaniSon @ Umm... it has only been promoted that way for quite some time now. Batman Begins...The Dark Knight and now The Dark Knight Returns. Three films...Nolan's trilogy. The trailer says at the end: "The epic conclusion to the Dark Knight Legend."

Makes sense considering it's Doc Ock's fault Stacy dies not the Lizard's. And they're bound to get to Doc Ock at some point soon. Plus there's a good chance it's Uncle Ben's because Uncle Ben seems to be sticking around for a little longer in this film, most likley because they managed to get a big name actor like Martin Sheen.

@SuspenseSmith-actually, I think the relationship in Cap was handled pretty well. The seeds of attraction were planted early (while he was still Skinny Steve) and gradually grew into mutual respect and finally into the POTENTIAL for romance. And bear in mind, the movie took place over the course of like 3 to 4 years (most of which was handled in montage footage of Hydra base raids). That opens up a lot of possibilities for flashbacks to introduce us to guys like Zemo and Strucker, but it also makes the relationship more plausible.

The funeral has to be Capt. Stacy's. The focus of the pics that we saw earlier was Gwen. We didn't see Peter in any of the pics of the funeral.
