"The Amazing Spider-Man" is the story of Peter Parker (Garfield), an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents’ disappearance--leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father’s former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors’ alter-ego, the Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.

The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field, the films swings into theaters July 3, 2012 in 3D!

This has nasty shades of Ang Lee's HULK that stupidly shifted focus of the main story from Bruce Banner to his father and ruined the narrative with unnecessary backplot!

There's no need to give Peter Parkes Parents some dark secret history that causes him to become Spiderman. Hollywood need to stop with this sins of the father bull!

It still bothers me that they made the entire cast much more attractive than the last. Movies seem more realistic when you aim for the medium.

Richard & Mary Parker are one of the characters I'm most interested in of the movie; I know they won't do much, but I'm curious how the plot will relate them. Uncle Ben and Aunt May look pretty good, too.

I dont het why people are against a more deep, complicated story, we've seen the basic story already, i dont want to sit through the exact same story again, amd this ones trying to stay away from the tHe other with a bit of mystery. Sounds great to me. I prefer them to build up to peters main parts of his life osbourn, bugle, by them being ominously in the background for a later film. Harry should really appear though, their in highschool after all.

Actually, his parents ARE SHIELD agents...well, at least in the comics they were (The Amazing Spider-Man King-Size Special #5)....they were double agents who worked for SHIELD reporting on the Red Skull (who of course had them killed in a plane crash).

Looking forward to this film. It'll be nice to have some more backstory on Peter instead of the same old, same old. So yeah, it is an untold story. Bring it.

@Bane: True, but in Ultimate, Aunt May was a little younger and more hip. The whole point of Ultimate Spiderman was to reach a younger generation, there fore most if not all the characters were considerably younger. This film, is based off Ultimate.
