Hello ComicBookMovie community! Hope you've all been doing great. So enough small talk, you're here about Spider-Man. Now every Spider-Man film has had some great action sequences, yes even Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and I'm here to discuss what I believe to be the best action sequence per film from the franchise. Now this isn't a top (instert number here) list and will be in the order of the films release. So enough with the introduction paragraph, Let's get started!

Abandoned Building Brawl - Spider-Man (2002)
The final fight between Spider-Man and Green Goblin is the best action sequence in the film. The fight is rough, intense, brutal, and you can really feel every hard-hitting punch Green Goblin is delivering to Spidey while Spidey attempts to just stay alive. Once Green Goblin threatens to kill everyone Peter loves you see Spider-Man just gather up all he has left to overcome the much stronger adverary. It's well shot, well choreographed and really cements Green Goblin as a brutal villain and Spider-Man as a hero who won't go down easily.

Train Fight - Spider-Man 2 (2004)
I think the majority of people who have seen Spider-Man 2, whether it's the extended or theatrical version, would agree the train fight sequence between Spider-Man and Doc Ock is the best in the film and possibly the best action sequence in any Spider-Man film to-date. The fight is amazingly choreographed, beautifully shot, and showcases both the amazing abilities of Spider-Man and a Doc Ock who can keep up with Spider-Man proving he is a worthy adversary. It's a great action scene that I'd go as far to as to say it's one of the best in the history of comic book movies.

Spider-Man's Revenge - Spider-Man 3 (2007)
Believe it or not Spider-Man 3 does have some nice action sequences. I for one loved Spider-Man's first confrontation with Sandman and even the fight between Harry and Peter, but the fight where Spider-Man and Sandman battle it out in the subway is the best in the film. It's rough, brutal, and very personal. This is Spider-Man's anger and the venom suit getting the best of him as he is trying to kill his uncles killer, Sandman. It's a good fight, not the best in the series, but the best in this film.

High School Fight - The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
The high school fight in The Amazing Spider-Man is possibly the highlight of this entire film for me. It's fast paced, well shot, amazingly choreagraphed and with some really great moments like the one in the image above and what many would consider the best Stan Lee cameo of all time. It's a really cool action sequence that showcases not only the abilities of Spider-Man, but the Spider-Man personality with the funny remarks towards his villains.

Power Plant Battle - The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)
The final battle between Spider-Man and Electro is without a doubt the best action sequence in the entire film. This sequence I believe gives even the train fight in Spider-Man 2 a run for its money. The action is extremely fast paced, with slow motion showing us the little details, it showcases Spider-Man's abilities amazingly, it's awesomely choreographed, beautifully shot, with a satisfying conclusion to the battle that is foreshadowed in the middle of the film. It's just so well done in my opinion.

So there you have it! These are the actions scenes that I consider the best in each of the Spider-Man films. I'm so excited to see how Marvel Studios will top any of these action sequences. So what do you guys and gals think? Agree with my picks? Or do you have another action scene you prefer? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

Yea I agree. I've been giving thumbs up to any editorial not about what Marvel should do with Spidey.

Thumbs up for this.

Spider Man 2 train sequence was the best one IMO
Loved the effects in TASM 2's Power Plant battle
Spider Man 1 had the fight between Goblin and Spidey during the Parade that I enjoyed and the scene when he battles Goblin in that burning building.

Anyway, heres how I rank them.

1 Spider Man 2
2 TASM
3 Spider Man
4 TASM 2
5 Spider Man 3

The only thing I don't get was that Doc Ock was just a normal human. How did he withstand a punch from spider-man? One punch should have knocked him out or worse. But i guess we wouldn't have had a movie then now would we

I'm STILL trying to figure out what the hell Webb was trying to accomplish with those air traffic control scenes during the Electro fight.

"Oh boy, let's get the audience invested in this scene by endangering the lives of a bunch of extras that they're never introduced to, will never care about, and whose potential deaths will make absolutely no difference to the rest of the film!"

I mean, the [frick]ing main characters don't even know that the two planes are about to collide! At least that knowledge would've given Spidey some extra drama and yet another thing to juggle while fighting Electro...but nope.

Great list anyways, though this is just reminding me of how long it's been since we've actually gotten a genuinely good Spider-Man movie. Assuming the 2017 solo movie is good, it will have been over FIFTEEN YEARS since the last great movie. Insane.

@Pending
If there is any part of TASM2 that really stood out as "bad," it was the plane scene. There was not one redeeming thing about it. I honestly might even have had a better initial reaction to the movie if the plane scene wouldn't have been there.

SauronsBANE - 2/21/2015, 2:48 PM
@BatHeis Oh definitely not, I LOVE it! Good catch though, I got my years mixed up, I assumed it came out in 2002 for some reason when it was actually '04 haha. So in that case, 13 years. Not much better, but still!

You don't like the first ASM?
SauronsBANE
SauronsBANE - 2/21/2015, 3:24 PM
@BatHeis Eh not particularly, no. SOME parts are absolutely great (basically, all the scenes with Uncle Ben in it) but I just can't stand the rest. The Peter-Gwen romance was painfully shallow, the Lizard was awful, and that last scene of the movie ("Broken promises are the best kind!") practically sealed it for me that I would hate the movie forever and for all eternity haha. Just my opinion, though!
SauronsBANE
SauronsBANE - 2/21/2015, 3:36 PM
@ABetterTomorrow Whoa, really interesting comparison, I never thought of it like that! Now I'm trying to think why that scene worked so well in The Dark Knight, but failed so miserably in TASM 2 haha.

It's probably because the Joker actually planned to have the two ferries blown up. He wanted to give Batman and the cops yet another thing to worry about, but it was also an experiment to prove his theory that ANYONE can be corrupted. Plus we actually spend time with all the people involved, and so their decisions really impacted us.

Compare that to TASM 2...where we spend zero time with the people on the planes/in the control tower and Electro and Spidey aren't even aware of the entire situation. It just simply "happened" because Electro messed with the power grid (I think. I barely even remember that movie haha). How utterly boring.

My favourite scenes in each film:

Spider-Man (2002):

The climax with Spider-Man having to save both Mary Jane and a bunch of children at the same time from Norman Osborn. A very well thought out, executed and imaginative scene. I also liked how New Yorkers banned together to help Spidey.

Spider-Man 2:

Train scene. Nuff said.

Spider-Man 3:

The formation of the Sandman. While this is by far the worst Spider-Man film, the scene where Flint Marko has just transformed and is trying to form himself back together and pick up a picture of his daughter had so much heart and made you sympathetic for this over-all under-developed character.

The Amazing Spider-Man:

I would have to say either the car-thief scene or the climax/death of Captain Stacy and his "you make a lot of enemies speech, leave Gwen out of this speech."

The Amazing Spider-Man 2-Rise of Electro:

I'd have to say the brilliantly executed Times Square scene (Spidey vs Electro round 1) as it was very believable as the scene and Max Dillon's mental illness get out of hand rather quickly. My second choice would be the Death of Gwen Stacy/Spidey vs the Green Goblin, as that was also handled very well.

I think Electro in the middle of Times Square was a great scene in Amazing Spider-Man 2.
Also the first fight between Peter and Harry with the glider at the beginning of Spider-Man 3

Sorry about the hiatus. Apparently, even though 'inciters' is a reason for reporting someone as a troll, you will end up getting banned for "abusing" the reporting system. Imagine how hilarious it is to come back from Hawaii to see that you've been banned on CBM.com, lmao. That's my second time I've been banned because someone's doing something mischievous behind closed doors to not get banned themselves, haha.

Anywho......TAS-M 2 was pretty much just that, really. Sony was trying to make it The Dark Knight of Spidey films. They even filmed a bit of Spidey going after Spider-Man fakes(which ended up being cut). It just shows how unoriginal TAS-M 2 and that entire series turned out to be. People cared about what happened to the ferries...did anyone watching TAS-M 2 actually care about the passengers in the planes when we only saw a total of five seconds between them?

SauronsBANE - 3/12/2015, 2:39 PM
@MisterSuperior Whoa, now that's a LONG hiatus haha. I was a bit thrown by getting a notification from a weeks-old article, not gonna lie haha. It's apparently a weird bug in the reporting system to discourage mass-reporting. They really need to improve that, sucks you got caught up in it!

But yeah, I think they had no idea what they wanted from TASM 2. They clearly wanted it to make The Dark Knight-levels of money...but somehow the haphazard tone-shifts made it feel more like Batman & Robin. Ironically, I think TASM 1 was the movie that had the clearest influence from The Dark Knight. What a [frick]ing mess of a (now-dead) franchise.

Agree on all accounts.

But, sorry about that....I was only away for a week but I've just been too busy to actually visit here. I'll have to gel into it all, although just reading more of these comments.....so many hate as of late. Don't know if I'll even stick around, haha.

@MisterSuperior Haha no worries! I'd imagine it must've felt like a second vacation to stay away from here for so long =P

You nailed it though, this site's gotten REALLY bad lately, and a lot of good users have left. Spending time on other, more mature sites and even staying off the internet completely have done wonders for me lately haha.

SpoilerTV dot com (don't know if this site would allow actually typing the URL). That is a far more laid-back site where you can comment and it actually seems like a place where ADULTS actually go to. I've been commenting there and it's a far better area to discuss ideas. It's also not just "comic book fans" and there's a reason why I'm using quotes, lol. It's just people talking about TV and film. Maybe try comicbook dot com as well. That is a more legit area to talk to one another about just comic books in general too.

If I run into any other place, I'll let you know. But this site....it's just disheartening. This site was a horrible place to comment but when I first started to comment, you met a lot of cool people....now it's just back as it was where it's "I hate this and I'll comment!". Those comments even take over actual positive comments. It's just that ugly.

SauronsBANE - 3/12/2015, 3:49 PM
@MisterSuperior Hm, I might have to check out those sites as well!

Despite it's reputation around these parts, the community over at BadassDigest is INCREDIBLE. It's nothing more than adults talking about the movies they love, and the users AND the writers there aren't afraid to discuss how movies relate to everyday life and current events. It's refreshing, extremely inclusive, and one of the absolute best comment sections I've ever seen. Highly recommended!

And yeah, I'm hoping that the few good users we still have left continue to stay and help clean this place up...but it won't be easy. I come to CBM.com because they pump out more news than any other site I visit, but a day might come where I only come for the articles, and skip the comments altogether. There's only so much you can take, you know?
MisterSuperior
MisterSuperior - 3/12/2015, 5:17 PM
@SauronsBANE

I will certainly check that out. I love to discuss online as much as I do with my own group of friends and it's like...I'm close to 30 and I'm sick of reading all of the immaturity. In fact, a site I've been commenting on since the days of Smallville (Kryptonsite) is another nice place as their forums have evolved to where you can talk about everything. Just look up the topic you want to discuss and you'll find some level-headed people. I'll definitely check out BadassDigest though. Thanks for the recommendation.

And I'm with you. I'm thinking it's going to become a situation of how I handle Latino Review. I'm just going to read the actual article and not scroll down at the comments because they're just ugly and basically from people that would label themselves as "comic book fans" when they're just downright trolls.

@MisterSuperior I'm bookmarking all these websites as we speak haha. I'm always on the lookout for some great comic book movie-centric sites with fun communities. Thanks for all these recommendations too!

And good Lord, the Latino Review comment sections...I actually like El Mayimbe and find Latino Review credible for the most part, but it seems like they attract the lowest common denominator of fanboys for some reason. You said it, trolls is more like it. Just awful.
