VIDEO GAMES: New Details And Images Of The Rhino From THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

Last week saw the release of a character trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man video game featuring the reveal of The Rhino (you can find it by clicking HERE). IGN has also posted a series of images and a character bio for the villain which you can find below. There has been a lot of speculation that Oscorp's role in the movie universe would be to help introduce new villains and the information below may support that theory. To read an interview with Beenox's Stephane Gravel and Marvel's Chris Baker, be sure to click on the link at the bottom of the page.

Unlike all of the other cross-species, which were created after Curt Connors terrorized the city as the Lizard, Rhino was the result of a pet project belonging to a corrupt Oscorp executive with access to Connors’ research. Abusing this access, he applied this top-secret knowledge to black-market dealings.

Without the knowledge or consent of his superiors at Oscorp, the executive forcefully enlisted the help of Dr. Michael Morbius, threatening to end the reclusive biochemist’s career if he refused to help. Morbius reluctantly complied, applying the rhinoceros DNA with which the executive supplied him to a cross-species serum similar in nature to Connors’ own for the Lizard.

The next step was to test the serum, and the executive’s underworld clients were all too happy to provide his oblivious human test subject: a low-level thug named Aleksei Sytsevich. If it worked, the mafia would have a new weapon on its hands; if not...no great loss.

After an excruciatingly painful transformation, Sytsevich was now a hybrid of man and rhinoceros, ready to tear apart anything in his path – the executive’s clients would be pleased. That is, if they are ever to receive their investment…

Which other villains would you like to see in The Amazing Spider-Man video game? Sound off with your thoughts in the usual place.

RELEASE DATE: June 26th, 2012.

I don't like it. I mean it's cool they are recognizing Rhino seeing as he is a cheesy, non-popular villain from Spidey's rogue's gallery, but from the tone of the movie, the Ultimate Rhino with the midget seems to fit better to me.

Belt! Definitely makes the suit look better.
Rhino's been in the past two Spider-Man movie video game tie-ins.
The idea for Rhino's pretty cool though, although I prefer the big suit of armor introduced in Ultimate Spider-Man. Makes it more diverse, as opposed to a transformation of spandex, like most of Spidey's other villains have.

Rhino looks like a bad ass

The game takes place after the first movie. So it looks like by the time the movie sequel comes around, Spidey will have adjusted his suit. If this progresses, by the 3rd movie he should have the classic suit. *Fingers crossed*

Belt is a great idea especially with the web-shooters needing cartridges.

Shame Rhino can only get into the games... obviously animal splicing is the big thing in the ASM-universe.. so i guess we will get:

Morbious - Vampire bat
Vulture - Vulture DNA
Scorpion - Scorpion DNA

with all his dna splicing im guessing we will get more of an ultimate goblin monster thing (in the next movie)...

though i hope they dont splice Doc Ock with an actual Octopus lol

Why does EVERYTHING involving Spider-Man these days have to revolve around Oscorp? This is just extremely lazy writing and really dumbs down Spider-Man's rich and diverse rogues' gallery. Spidey's opponents come from all walks of life and all kinds of different places. That's part of what makes them interesting as characters. What's next? Kraven is in charge of locating animals for Oscorp's illegal animal research labs? The Kingpin is merely a high-ranking Oscorp executive, or CEO of a rival 'evil corporation'?

having him transform is probably the right call. will go good with the story and that they can say they used parts of connors experiment that went wrong on him

I think your'e overeacting a bit...
As far as Spidey's video games are concerned, Oscorb has never had a huge impact on the storylines we've seen; the only one being the first Spider-man movie game i think...

And honestly, I'm just hoping Beenox got Spider-man himself "Right" finally. They almost got it with Shattered Dimensions so here's hoping an open world game works better this time around.(A la Arkham City)

He makes sense for the game because of the whole cross species theme they have going with the Lizard. So can we expect Scorpion? Vulture? Kraven hunting?

wait...if that's his skin...where's his junk? is he wearing rhino-flesh colored underpants? or did they just lop it off?
SeaSerpentine

His new origin kinda reminds me of Rocksteady from Ninja Tutles. But I still think the game looks cool. I hope we do get to see Morbius in a sequel.

I want Electro to make an appearance. Rhino looks cool though. And it seems that there are indeed hints at Norman Osborn behind his origins. Very nice. Here's hoping that at some point in this new and improved series, Osborn becomes the Goblin. And please, please, please, please give us the classic suit. No Go Go Power Rangers.

@Comicbookguy: Okay, I think you're a bit confused, maybe. I'm sure we've all seen by now the Spectacular Spiderman television show. Oscorp was behind the creation of every villain on the show along with Tombstone, who I feel was brilliantly re-designed as a mobster/crime boss. It's basically the same thing, and when you really think about it, having Osborn involved this early gives him plenty of time for development, which eventually will lead to the origin of the Green Goblin, (the real one this time).

@ supersayianfan1 Wow that was a sick video. I like how they used the music and the effects. If only the actions scenes in the movie are like that. That made Rhino seem way more bad ass than the pics.

I wonder if he has Spider-shark repellent? lol I seem to remember Peter usually wearing his extra-web-cartridge belt under his costume.

Rhino is the kind of villain that is cheesy on paper or tv. But if he came up to you in real life you would crap your sweet silky undies.

the newest costume for rhino in amazing spider-man is really good. It has a mask that comes down over part of his face. It is better imo than the robot style and definitely better than this one and the old school. The newest Rhino suit was in one of the latest issues of amazing, it was upgraded for him by doc ock and i think mysterio as well. I am on my phone so i can't put up a pick right now but if someone else has one available it would be cool to put up.

sooo geed for this i was going to post an article about this but i had to bolt so didnt finish but whatever.................anyways i like how he has a utility belt 'makes it look more closer to the original design/concept of the suit. rhino i would of preferred the ultimate design though but hopefully this connects to the second movie. BUT IN OTHER NEWS IM SSOOOOOOOOOOO BUYING THIS GAME

@thewolfx Go up to someone in the street, you don't know, and ask them if they know who Rhino is from Spider-Man, they won't, but like Venom, Goblin, Doc-Ock, etc they will. He's popular among readers, but not the average ner'do well.
