BOX OFFICE: MAN OF STEEL Now Set For An Opening Weekend Of $120 - $135 Million

Yes, that's a pretty rough estimate, but far more than what analysts initially predicted. Indeed, it seems that Man of Steel will soar past the previously mentioned $85 million, securing the future of the DC Cinematic Universe at the same time. Read on for details!

So, yeah, we should probably just consider the Man of Steel sequel and Justice League movie to be 100% confirmed at this point! After studio estimates of $85 million and expert predictions of MAYBE $100 million, the Zack Snyder helmed reboot now looks set to earn an incredible $114 - $120 million this weekend and something closer to $126 - $130 million when the Thursday evening screenings are taken into account. There aren't any official numbers as of yet, but Deadline reports that their sources have informed them that Man of Steel will take between $42.5 - $47.7 million today. Warner Bros. are said to be very happy with this news and it's thought that we will have some slightly more accurate numbers by later tonight or early tomorrow. Either way, whatever faults some have found with the movie - myself included - there's no denying that it's an effective and enjoyable blockbuster whose sequel will greatly benefit from not having an origin story to slog through. As for Justice League, The Avengers may soon have some competition...

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question 'Why am I here?' Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world’s beacon of hope – Superman.

STARRING:

Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman
Amy Adams as Lois Lane
Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent

I can't be bothered to type this up again and im not great at reviews so ill post this again

Ok im conflicted

There was a lot of stuff I didn't like..nothing major but things that didn't sit right

But on the other hand I fricking loved it

As far as spectacle goes it beats Avengers hands down

I could of done with less Jor-El and more Pa Kent

The pacing was far too rushed

The score never did anything..lots of build up to nothing..i was hoping for the full score that leads to hope but that didn't happen till the end credits

Maybe it was seeing it in IMAX but it had that cartoony looking action in places where the actors are CGi

One action piece could of been left out all together and made me feel like I was watching Matrix Revolutions..especialy since it flashed back and forward to the guy who played the rebel leader in Matrix and Morpheas

The ending was flat

and Cavil could of expressed more sides to his character other then scream when flying or brood when not talking...which he never did allot of

Cavill would of looked better if he didn't spend most of the movie with his face flat in the concrete

But for some reason......maybe its the kid in me I [frick]ing loved it

was it as epic as I thought it would be...No

Was it as character driven as I thought it would be...No

Was it as heartfelt as I was sure it would be..No

Was is it a kick ass no holds bared action popcorn movie...[frick] YEAH

Bring on the sequel

Ive never felt so disappointed yet love something so much in my life

Apart from when I have sex with the Mrs

At first im disappointed that I have to..then I love the fact I cant get it up anymore

wahoooo

In short

Man Of Steel you get a 5/5 from me...you don't deserve it...
but damnit like a cheap hooker...
Sloppy in places and rough around the edges but will blow you away like no other
you have a warm fuzzy place in my heart and wallet

you get boobs Snyder

Great stuff tea! Now that I don't have ridiculously high expectations, I'm looking forward to seeing it a second time and hopefully being a little more forgiving of its flaws. :)

Yes! I don't care about competition, so screw it Josh by adding those in your articles. You are just inciting the stupid comic wars and it's a pretty low blow. Expected better man. I just want my god damn awesome comic movies, be it Marvel, DC or anything else.

I saw it last night and I thought it was pretty good. All the performances are great. Clark does get alot of development and is very relatable. The dialogue was good for the most part and the action scenes were the best I've seen since The Avengers. The first 20 minutes were amazing.

It's not perfect, though. While the action is intense and well-executed, it does get to a point where less could have been more. The pacing is a bit off the wall in the first hour and outside of Clark, none of the other characters develop.

However, it is the best Superman movie in a long time and I hope that a sequel does better and DC finally gets their cinematic universe going.

Also, the very last scene was near perfection.

That movie caught by surprise the people who thought that they knew everything about Superman.

It's a great movie and I'm sure that the word-of mouth will generate even more attention to MOS.
