Bradley Cooper is LEX LUTHOR?

The website Cosmic Book News has been contacted by someone alleging that Bradley Cooper (The Hangover) will be making a cameo as Superman's arch-nemesis in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel.

According to Cosmic Book News the star of such films as Wedding Crashers and The A-Team will make a cameo as Lex Luthor in the Man of Steel. Now I have no clue if Bradley Cooper will be going up against Henry Cavill in the film, but I do feel very confident that we will indeed see Lex Luthor in some capacity.

Hopefully the role is just a cameo because I am fed up with seeing Lex Luthor portrayed as Superman's only villain in these featured films. Superman actually has a pretty good rogue gallery and for some reason Warner Bros. has done a piss poor job of featuring any of them outside of Zod, Luthor, and some newly created nuclear man (Superman IV).

Of course this is just a rumor, please take it with a grain of salt. I included a poll below so that you can voice your opinion.

We were told after Paradise Lost bottomed out, that Bradley Cooper will appear as Lex Luthor in a cameo role in the Man of Steel.

Back in April of 2011, we were provided information that the first draft of the script held a prominent role for Luthor, one that even saw Lex forcing the Kryptonians through a Phantom Zone portal using Kryptonite in the final battle. At the end of the movie, Lex considers forcing Superman through as well, but relents.

Man Of Steel, starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Julia Ormond, Russell Crowe, Laurence Fishburne with Christopher Meloni and Harry Lennix, the reboot is slated for theaters June 14th, 2013!

I don't see it. I like Cooper as an actor, but it's impossible to see him in the role. He may be good, IDK.

Sounds awful considering the great casting so far. His IT-MAN days are almost over and this will look cheesy.

Cast Anton Yelchin as Jimmy and we'll be back to good casting.

What EXACTLY is the problem with Cooper playing Lex? I mean really? Based on WHAT?

...but that being said, I'm STILL far from "sold" on our new Catwoman :/

I can't see him with the bald head. I'd think he'd play Luthor with hair but slicked back or short. Kinda like he did in The Wedding Crashers or at the end of Limitless

Clancy Brown and Michael Rosenbaum are the best templates we have for a PROPER on-screen Luthor IMO.

Spacey was good enough, but Singer had him channeling way too much Hackman camp in a few of those scenes.

Yeah, I will agree that ol' Ralph "Voldemort the Cannibal" Fiennes would be a superbly vicious and appropriately arrogant Luthor

The "cameo" could be in news clips and stuff like that. Let's not forget that Lex Luthor is a major player in the Supes universe even when he's not battling the big boyscout. He is one of the wealthiest business people in that world and sometimes a politician, depending on the story arc. I am just saying that an entire movie without even the mention of Luthorcorp or Lex in some way would be strange. So, yeah... like some news reel type stuff or headlines with pics at the Daily Planet... he's gotta be in there in some way, shape, or form.

And Bradley Cooper plays a really good intelligent prick. He does not need to shave his head, tho.

I want to hate Bradley Cooper for some reason... maybe it's because I wish I was him. Yet, no matter what I see him in, he's always amazing. My opinion of him is so polarized I feel like it's going to tear me in half.

BTW- how bout Clooney? He is a better age to be Lex, I think. And, he comes across as somehow smarter.

He is a great actor, a handsome man, and he seems like he would be a good choice to play Lex. I can get with this idea even though I still like the Billy Zane idea.

@QuietStorm Production was supposed to begin this month but it's now going to be delayed until they rework their budget. Supposedly "late spring or early summer" is when they'll be picking it back up.

... but who knows what'll happen by then, really.
CaptainTall

Yes. This would be amazing. Cooper is one of my favorite actors, and so far this guy has pulled off everything fantastically.

... by the way, he wasn't a star in Wedding Crashers, it was just a minor part. You should have said Limitless or The Hangover movies. I know it's petty, but it irked me a little.

Could be interesting. I really can't wait to see how this movie turns out. I hope it's awesome! We're overdue for some kick ass Superman action.

@Neo Playing a villain works in his favor if he is no longer considered an it-man. I was actually looking forward to him as Lucifer, but as Lex Luthor i'm not so sure about.. even if it ends up just being a cameo, or nothing at all. I agree with Nailbiter that Lex is overdone, though.

Out with the old, in with the new!
