Does David Boreanez Want Another Shot At Superman?

Does David Boreanez Want Another Shot At Superman?

Word is that the Angel star, who auditioned for the role back in 2005 when Bryan Singer was making Superman Returns, is eager for another chance to suit up for Zack Snyder's upcoming reboot..

I think its pretty widely known in fan circles that Boreanez(Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Angel, Bones) auditioned to play The Man Of Steel Back in 2005. Obviously, he didn't get it! Brandon Routh played the big blue boyscout. But one can't help but wonder if he was impressive nonetheless, especially since it looks like he's looking for another chance at the role.

According to Moviehole Boreanez is keen to get another audition, this time of course its Zack Snyder at the helm of a reboot. Even if he gets a look in, I'm pretty sure his chances are slim since we already know that WB and Snyder are looking for a relative unknown, and at 40 doesn't fit into the age bracket that they are apparently sticking to. But still, if he impresses enough who knows? What would you think about Boreanez as Superman?

He'd make a much better Wonder Man for Marvel Studios, but I'd give him a shot at this. The guy is an amazing actor (just check him out in Bones) and would do a great job if they going for a non origin story. Good stuff ROR! :)

I also think he has the chops to pull this off, but maybe not the right look. He is still better than some of the names I've heard thrown around though.

I liked him when he played Angel.Good actor or not,he doesn't have the look of Superman face wise.Sorry David, but try out for something else.I still think they should have a Superman thats closer to 40 though, like Jon Hamm.At least then it wouldn't be another stupid origin story...Again!!!

Yeah, definitely a better Wonder Man than Superman. He's alright, but eh, I don't see it. I'll pass.

@ Intruder - You're Star Trek photo says it all lol.

I already have doubts about this film, but if this guy got the role, I reckon I'd patiently wait for the next reboot/remake or whatever crappy label you want to give it.

Love David as an actor, he did a marvelous job voicing Green Lantern in the Justice League: The New Frontier. But I wouldn't even go see him as superman.

Zachery Levi FTW... Also, if you are happy with 40 y/o Boreanaz, why not 39 y/o Hamm ??

I'm a fan of his and would have really liked him for Hal Jordan. Like Josh pointed out, I don't think they could find a better Woner Man. Maybe Clive Owen.

No. Just plain no. He'd be just as bad a choice as Routh or Welling.

He's a good actor, and could nail the Superman persona better than many, but he just doesn't look the part. He would definitely add to the DC movie universe if he were to play another character.

I want to see a bulked up Matt Bomer in the red and blue.

I'm a fan; love Buffy & Angel, and he seems like he may be a comic guy as well, but he's just not Supes. I think JoshW's idea of Boreanez playing WonderMan would be pretty awesome and with Joss at the helm of The Avengers... You hear me Joss? It's a great idea!

Boogie138 - 1/14/2011, 11:15 AM
@ geeksiah: thank you, plus any actor who wants to do a character really bad will always give it his best... even if the movie not so good. not that i don't think this will be good. with snyder supes will deff throw a punch. that alone puts me in a seat

He's always played bold and badass characters, the awkward Clark Kent would be a dramatic departure for him. Could he pull off slipping so convincingly into Clark Kent's shoes that the suspension of disbelief actually works and we watch Clark Kent/Superman for 2 hours or would we just see Boreanez PLAYING the iconic character? I'm not betting money on it. Besides, it's still a rumor.

@skidz- I've only seen 20 minutes of Bones collectively since it came out, but his character on that show seems to be a bit on the light hearted side. Many prefer the less clumsy version of Clark Kent which could probably work very similar to what I've seen of his Bones character. Even if they did want to go with the clumsy awkward Clark Kent he could pull it off.

I do think he could make a good Batman, I prefer my Batman a little leaner than Boreanez, but i think he would still be a decent fit.
