Simon Pegg Talks STAR TREK 3; Gives His Opinion On MAN OF STEEL

Pegg (alongside The World's End co-star Nick Frost) speaks to Collider about possibly shooting the third Star Trek movie in time for a 50th anniversary release. He also shares his problems with Man Of Steel..can you guess what they are??

In the following fun video interview with both Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, the Shaun Of The Dead duo discuss their upcoming projects including a 5th Mission Impossible flick, and a sequel to Tin Tin. Pegg also says that he really hopes they can go into production on Star Trek 3 next year so it can be ready for release around the time of the 50th Trek anniversary in 2016. Then right at the end he gives the usual "too much destruction" spiel about Zack Snyder's Man Of Steel. Does anyone have any actual valid reasons for disliking that movie?

I personally have no problems when people say there was too much destruction. But what really pisses me off is when they say it was AT THE HAND OF SUPERMAN. If you watch the fight again.....there were only two major instances of destruction caused by Superman himself 1) When Zod and Superman fly straight at each other and create a massive crater in the building and 2) When Superman runs Zod's head across a series of window panes. Most of the time, it was Superman get his ass handed to him and being thrown around into buildings - which all seemed vacated in certain shots. Could Superman have taken the fight somewhere else? Yes probably if Zod WASN'T trying to make an example of what he would do to the humans once was Superman dead. Did Superman cause all the destruction? [frick] no.

Man of Steel: Best movie so far this year.

It was an unapologetic full-throat ed action movie. People are just not used to action on that level. People aren't used to being physically exhausted after leaving the movie theater.

I felt like I got of a 45 minute roller coaster ride when it was over. I don't think I've ever experienced that in a movie before.

He has proper geek credentials and is a vocal DC fan. He knows his shit and I agree with him regarding MoS

I think the days of 9+ pages of verbal judo on the MoS topic are over.

Sorry Ror.

I dont have a problem with the complaint on "too much destruction" i think by the 3rd Act the action became exhausting. A good 15-20 Minutes of the Action should have been cut out of the movie.

It's a movie for god's sake. Every other movie has extreme destruction (Pacific Rim, GI JOE 2, WWZ, etc...) If anything Man of Steel has less destruction as its only half a FICTIONAL CITY being destroyed.

Man of Steel wasn't my cup of tea, so I think thats valid enough for me. You either like a movie or you don't the reasons should only matter to you. I know I'll catch crap for this but I liked Iron Man 3 more than MoS

I don't care if people liked or didn't like Man of Steel. I loved it, and the sequel will be Superman vs Batman. If it got us closer to seeing that film, I don't know how anybody could dislike it.

Pacific Rim: people go underground into shelters, buildings are empty, and Jaeger steps over the bridge.

Man of Steel: Superman says f*ck all that shit, I'm causing a thousand 911s!

with a name like weekendavenger we know exactly why you dont like man of steel, marvel fan boy, you wont catch crap because we know you like crap.

also simon pegg is someone i have never liked and could never understand how he got famous without really doing any acting. He goes even further down in my book. I could propably tell him a couple more things I didnt like about star trek into darkness which quite frankly doesnt measure up to the first one.

When superman fights the tentacles on the world engine machine That only dragged the movie down a bit. Just have superman cut through it like a knife through butter. Hes [frick]ing Superman for christ sake. Despite all the problems MOS is still the best movie of the summer.

He made a very good point about the glasses. But it is a very rare opportunity for people to actually come face to face with Superman. I bet most of Metropolis sees Superman as just a red and blue streak lol.

The whole "Superman murderer" complaint is sooooooo ignorant and desperate.

Batman's not supposed to use guns either, right?

What kind of hero would either of them be if they weren't willing to take a life to save a life?

Like Batman said, he was responsible for the deaths of hundreds of people for letting Joker live.

I liked MoS but I agree with his POV.. It took a very serious tone and we are supposed to believe that no one (except Lois) knows hes Superman once he puts on glasses? Makes no sense what so ever.. Im this day and age his face would be on every news channel and website everywhere.. He'd be more recognizable than the president

There are plenty of valid reasons for me in why I was disappointed in the film; ranging from the way they did Lois Lane to the forced chemistry between her and Supes to the somber and depressing Supes that was depicted on screen. It's all subjective opinion. Different strokes. Some can claim people don't have valid reasons and some can say people settle too easily. Again, it's all subjective. To each their own.

AwesomeSauce - 7/25/2013, 12:51 PM
why did superman go after the world engine and left the weak and fragile humans alone to fend for themselves against evil supermen? It was implied that destroying one space craft would cancel out the other. Why not have the military unleash on the world engine which was in the middle of nowhere?

@AwesomeSauce: Because the world engine at the Indian Ocean wasn't guarded by Zod and his soldiers...

hmm...okay

*superman snapping Zod neck in front of a family
*superman not borther to take any of the fights he got into away from the Smallville or Metropolis
*both superman's father figures are terrible fathers who forced there needs/wants/paranoia on there son
*Lois can apparently be everywhere at once like Clark
*apparently being a newspaper does not require...you know actually having a journalist background.
*apparently the criminals of the phantom zone are more important to keep alive then the people of krypton
*apparently Lois is the only smart enough to see that a pair of glasses are not a disguise.

No one really have a valid reason to hate it. It is just one person said it and everyone else jumped on the train. Like people saying Supes destroyed buildings but ask them to watch and tell which build Supes punched Zod in and actually destroyed it they wouldn't be able to tell you.
Just people are out for WB about going out all out for the movie that non of the movies these people have been in cant even attempt to be on the scope of it.

Like I say people dont even go to movies to see story it seems and have problem with that. They either go and if it makes them laugh they ass off its a good movie or its not good if its not going out of character to make blantant jokes. Now we got to find something to hate which is pathetic.
