A visit back to the home of the Crows has Clark remembering old times with Lana (Kristin Kreuk) and Chloe (Allison Mack), while Lois is furious that no one remembers her five days as a student. Brainiac 5.0 (James Marsters) uses his Legion ring to visit from the future and takes Clark through his past, present and future. He shows Clark what really happened the night Jonathan died, Oliver's (Justin Hartley's) current pain and Clark's future at the Daily Planet with Lois and his role as Earth's favorite red and blue superhero.

Ah, as surely as the sun rises, grif chimes in with how much he hates Smallville. Wouldn't be the same without you, buddy.

It's funny how grif is the first one to comment on the Smallville post. Dude if you don't like the show, don't read about the show. Get a life!!

Good stuff ED - it would be awesome if they gave us a proper look at the suit in this episode...I doubt they will though (as they'll probably save that for the last one) but this all sounds great regardless! Jeez, it's been a while since I was excited for an episode of Smallville but that season premiere has restored my faith in the show! :)

Hey Grif if you hate it so much don't even bother to read the article and comment, and oh yea when else have you seen Braniac in live action, not in those garbage superman movies. Any comic book fan should watch this show.

yes it does seem as Grif and Deadpool72 truly do not have anything better to do. lol As if their 2 little opinions will stop a show from finishing their 10 years.

Them and "Leee777," and I agree with @Magnumsnake- the show is way more ambitious than many DC films/ CBM in general, even if it does stretch out his journey a bit. and WELLING FOR SUPERMAN! FTW! SOMEBODY SAAAAVE MEEE!!!!

joshw, I had my faith restored last season, actually, and I'm pretty psyched for this year. I'm sure there are going to be episodes that piss me off, but overall I really think they're going to deliver.

Interestingly that final shot we saw in Lazarus is pretty close to what I understand the original ending of the series would have been as conceived by Al Gough and Miles Millar. The suit would have risen in the crystal, the camera would have closed in on the "S" and that would have been it.

as to the people going after grif: just come to accept it that as long as there will be Smallville posts, he'll be there to tell us that the show sucks. Based on teh ratings we're in the elite company of about 3 million people, which isn't too shabby.

good stuff.., Still think they could have been a little more creative on the suit. kinda looked like a rip off of the the superman returns one. but awesome show!!

ED: I almost had my faith restored last season but the Zod storyline never really delivered as I hoped it would...however, both the script and tone of the season 10 premiere felt like the good 'ol days when the show was at its best and while I too will undoubtedly be left pissed off at the odd few episodes, I'm feeling really good about the show right now! I'm just surprised to say the opposite about Supernatural which has been consistently better than Smallville for a while IMO, but really fell flat with it's premiere.

I've only been watching Smallville on a weekly basis for four years, but for it to end with just a glimpse of the suit would not be a good pay off to fans who've stuck around for a decade! I just hope they do the right thing and give him a whole episode in the suit. And you know what? I hope Warner Bros give Welling a chance to play Clark in the movie because if the premiere proved anything, it's that he's a damn good actor! :)

Not to reopen that old Welling debate, I've been convinced for a couple of years now that he could effortlessly pull off the Superman role in a movie. As I've said before, the beautiful thing is that no matter how Smallville may have messed with the comics mythology,if the show ends with all of the pieces in place - Lois, Clark and Perry White at the Daily Planet, Lex Luthor back "in business", Clark as Superman -- the new movie (which is not supposed to be a reboot or origin story, just a Superman adventure) could simply begin. If you're aware of Smallville, you bring that to the table, if not then it's all new to you. Another appeal for the studio might be the fact that Smallville is an international hit as well -- a movie starring Welling would have more of a built in audience.

Back on point, though, the episode that said to me Welling would be perfect was the one with the Wonder Twins last year. He was delivering a speech to them and all I could think about was that he was Superman standing there, just without the costume.

Lana will only be in flashbacks and will most likely just be stock footage. Sounds like a great episode. Braniac 5 will be a cool treat.

THEY SHOULD HAVE HAD HIM FLYING IN THE FIRST SEASON, SUPER "BOY" NEVER HAPPENED..BUT LAST SEASON TURNED THE TIDE SERIOUSLY, FINALLY SHOWING BIG WIGS AND WRITERS, THIS IS WHAT WE WANTED, NO TEEN ANGSTY STUFF AND DRAMA MOOSH...BUT SUPERMAN, JUST SUPERMAN, THE VILLAINS AND HEROES AFFILIATED AND THE PROPER OR AS CLOSE TO AS YOU CAN PROPER REPRESENTATION OF THEM, THATS ALL...SIMPLE FORMULA. SADLY, NOW THAT ITS MAKING WAVES THEY WISH TO END IT. HELL, I WISH IT WOULD GO ON, WHY IS THAT? AS SOON AS YOU GET BACK ON YOUR FEET YOU WANNA EXIT? I PERSONALLY WISH AND IVE SAID IT BEFORE, THEY CONTINUE WITH A "JUMP OFF" SERIES, UTILIZING THE SAME ACTORS IN THEIR PROSPECTIVE ROLES BUT RENAMING THE SHOW "METROPOLIS" FEATURING A SERIES WITH A FULLY REALIZED SUPERMAN, HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN?, TOO LONG..PEOPLE HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE APPETIZER OF SMALLVILE WITH THE INTENT ON SEEING SUPERMAN..I WISH IT WOULDN'T END TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH. HATERS WILL HATE, BUT HONESTLY ITS CURRENTLY THE SUPERHERO SHOW THAT HAS A RECOGNIZABLE HERO, FOR ALL INTENSIVE PURPOSES THE MOST ICONIC.

Thanks for the article Ed@!

This season is shaping up to be a fitting send off
to "SUPERBOY"!

I agree Ed@ Welling has looked like Superman here
and there on SMALLVILLE for a couple of yeas now!
But the opening episode proved beyond a doubt to
me that TOM WELLING is very capable of playing
the big screen SUPERMAN and is ready for the part!

Of all the model-like people who have played him
Welling is the most masculine and manly of them all
and is the right stature and build now to beef-up to
play a manly-man Superman/Clark Kent!

I really believe that! So tough booties to the
haters, I think Welling should truly be the next
Big Screen Superman!

@Ed. I know you didn't want to reopen this but frankly, you just did.

Bottom line, for every Smallville fan who goes to see a Welling MOS there would be five to ten people who'll stay away because Welling (and most of the Smallville cast) can't carry a movie. Smallville is fine as it is but it needs to stay on the small screen.
