As simple as the stories featured in those shorts are, the animation is just so amazing. And somehow the innocence of those shorts are reflective of Superman as a character in a lot of ways (in a good way).

Kind of like Godzilla attacking Tokyo. He drops by, destroys pretty much everything, they rebuild and he shows up again.

They're also a good snapshot of the time they were made, see 'The Japateurs'.
As a whole, I think they still hold up really well. The animation is really well done, and they're enjoyable to watch.
