SUPERMAN: LEGACY Will Reportedly Feature A Conflict In The Middle East As Key Plot Point In DCU Reboot

New details about Superman: Legacy's plot have potentially been revealed, including the fact a conflict in the Middle East will be at the heart of Kal-El's conflict with his fellow heroes...and Lex Luthor!

There's a lot of excitement surrounding Superman: Legacy, but an awful lot of intrigue as well. While it was initially reported that the movie would pit the Man of Steel against The Authority, we've since learned that was a misdirect.

Instead, Kal-El will cross paths with many of his fellow superheroes, including Green Lantern and Hawkgirl. There's been speculation they're members of Justice League International, something which makes even more sense based on this latest rumour.

According to insider Daniel Richtman, at least part of Superman: Legacy will revolve around a conflict in the Middle East. The fictional nation of Bialya is said to be involved, and it's worth noting that's where the Blue Beetle Scarab originates from.

This actually lines up with a rumour from last month we didn't cover here.

In that, Beyond The Trailer claimed Superman will want to stop the conflict in that country by stepping in, leading to his fellow heroes disagreeing with the alien's approach. Lex Luthor was also said to be involved in peace talks, with a superhero team - possibly the Justice Society of America - also involved.

It all sounds a little Black Adam to us, but we'll see what happens. It's worth noting that Brainiac is still this reboot's rumoured villain so this could end up being a relatively minor subplot.

"Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman's journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas," reads the movie's synopsis. "He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned."

David Corenswet is playing the Man of Steel, while Rachel Brosnahan has been tapped to star as Lois Lane. other recent casting additions include Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.

Superman: Legacy is set to be released in theaters on July 11. 2025.
