TEEN TITANS Live-Action Movie Officially Moving Forward At DC Studios With SUPERGIRL: WOMAN OF TOMORROW Writer

There have been rumblings this might be in the works, but a live-action Teen Titans movie is officially a go at DC Studios.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms playwright turned feature scribe Ana Nogueira has been tapped to pen the screenplay after impressing studio bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran with her work on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

Nogueira was quietly hired to pen a Supergirl movie for Warner Bros. when the studio was developing a Sasha Calle-led The Flash spin-off. The Scarlet Speedster’s solo outing was in post-production at the time but the project was scrapped when Gunn and Safran took charge of DC Studios and moved on from Walter Hamada’s planned DCEU slate.

Many of you will know Nogueira best for starring in The Vampire DiariesThe Michael J. Fox Show, and The Blacklist. However, she’s also a budding writer, penning the Broadway play Which Way to the Stage and adapting author Alice Sola Kim’s short story Mothers, Lock Up Your Daughters for Warner Bros. Discovery.

Unfortunately, the trade doesn't shed any additional light on DC Studios' Teen Titans plans so, as we write this, your guess is as good as ours when it comes to which heroes will make up the team's roster.

It's clearly very early days for the movie, anyway, so decisions like that are probably a long way off. Milly Alcock, who was recently cast as the DCU's Supergirl, is 23 so probably won't be among the heroes assembling in this project (unlike Titans, we're hoping they're actually teens).

Initially debuting in 1964, the team has a storied history in the DC Universe. The 2003 series, Teen Titans, brought together iconic characters such as Robin (Dick Grayson), Starfire, Cyborg, Beast Boy, and Raven under the guidance of writer Marv Wolfman and artist George Pérez. The series focused on the personal and heroic growth of its members as they balanced their lives as teenagers with their responsibilities as heroes.

Notable storylines have included battles against foes like Deathstroke, Trigon, and the Brotherhood of Evil.

With Damian Wayne set to be introduced as a 10-year-old in The Brave and the Bold, it's possible he'll take Dick's place in this version of the team. Ultimately, it's too soon to say and we wouldn't anticipate seeing this one in theaters until 2026 or 2027 at the earliest. No director is currently attached.

@DravenCorvis - Don't forget that every new MCU announcement is "Marvel's most ambitious and adventurous project to date" or that he can't describe a female action star without using the adjective 'badass'. He literally can't think of another word.

Sweet

Considering none of the mentors outside of Dick’s has a movie on the release schedule yet, its probably going to be based on the Marv Wolfman and George Perez run

Hopefully the dcu puts cyborg on the titans where he belongs

For [frick]s sake. Not excited at all. It is too far away. Plus, I'd like to hear this from James Gunn himself or Safran or maybe Safran’s wife(🙄).

@harryba11zack - yup, can justify skipping Tim and Jason considering they both fill similar archetypes to Dick and Damien but if you are going straight to Damien, you need Dick as Nightwing

Good luck to the writer's 2nd project.

Since the title is Teen Titans then it can't be the picture Josh put there, the characters are grown up and just go by officially Titans. (So the TV show kind of that right, except with Raven and Beast Boy I suppose)

And if Damian will be in the team since he's one of Gunn's favourite Robins then his teammates will also have to be close to his age. I am also aware that many want to see Wally as a Flash here in the DCU so it would be odd if he's still Kid Flash and in a team with Damian when we know too from the Brave and the Bold that they'll introeduce the Bat-Family aka Nightwing should be there.

But Bart Allen might be the answer to fill that spot.

Oh well, that's enough speculation from me. I'm still burnt out from all the stupidity WBD did in 2022 to give a damn about these cashgrab, all-for-the-profit projects just meant to inflate Zaslav's pockets and TBH the fact that the Teen Titans are getting a movie first than the original superhero team that started it all, the JSA, in what is supposed to be a comic accurate adaptation of the comics, doesn't sit well with me.

Nice Friday everyone.

@NinnesMBC - wouldnt be surprised if the team is blue beetle, damien, raven, impulse, maybe miss martian? Just trying to think of a female character besides raven that works for the squad and she would cover the beast boy aspect of the team.
