Not too much info on this yet but Variety report that Battle LA and Wrath Of The Titans director Jonathan Liebesman is in negotiations with Paramount to helm their reboot of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Word is plot details are under wraps but the movie would be a new re-imagining of the famous comic and cartoon series. Now there have been many interpretations of the Turtles since their original comic book inception back in the '80s, the most popular being the first cartoon series. Is this to be a take that won't have elements of any of them? Guess we will find out soon enough.

Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec wrote the script, with Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form producing for Platinum Dunes.

Not that I have a problem with Liebesman, but I would've expected for them to get a martial arts director.

I have a problem with him. I haven't seen Wrath Of The Titans but I have seen Battle LA..and even if Wrath is good, i've seen Battle LA.

Hopefully the script from the Mission Impossible reboot writers gives Liebesman something good to work on provided that he doesn't "Michael Bay" it up with random fight scenes and crude humor.

Why can't Eastman and Laird write the script, have a well known martial artist do the fight scenes with Frank Oz,Ivan Reitman, or Kevin Smith directing (I know he said he's done), oh wait I forgot, cause Hollywood forgets about source material, carry on...

Paramount looks eager to go into production with TMNT since they lost Marvel Studios to Disney. The Studio has G.I. Joe 2 opening this summer, Star Trek 2 for May 2013 and Transformers 4 slated for a June 2014 release.

@boogie- awesome name and avatar! the real ghostbusters are the sh*t

anyways yeah umm this guy directing the new tmnt movie did the battle for la one, that being said no. that movie was horrible and boring to the core. wraith of the titans looks better than the first movie but thats not saying much. did he do the first titans movie? cause if so thats strike 2. can we get some better directors? and micheal bay producing. oh great now we are going to see the turtles blowing up random things. all i know is they better make leo badass cause he was actually the lamest in the movies. except for the TMNT cg movie, he was a little better in that but still. hes the leader for a reason.

Bay's movie would have: Obnoxious racist turtles: "Whats up my ninja?!" with pretty boy Ashton Kutcher as Casey Jones and Scarlett Johanson as April! And explosions!!!! With sexual humor: "Donny what are you doing in your room, are you masturbating?!" and a villain who is mentioned through the whole movie but shows up at the end: Shredder. with amazing CGI for Splinter and the turtles!! yup thats a Michael Bay Ninja Turtles

I'd love to see

A) One in the vein on the 2003 cartoon

or

B) One in the vein of the original comics

So far this guy hasn't made a good movie, and if Wrath of the Titans turns out good then that would give me a little hope, but with Michael Bay involved doesn't make it any better though. But I really hope they give it a darker tone this time around, and take more inspiration from the 80s comics.

This doesn't exactly make me feel confident about the movie, Battle LA was kinda boring and well crappy so I hope this guy pulls through with Wrath of the Titans for his sake. The only thing that gives me a small glimmer of hope is the writers Ghost Protocol was bad ass, they breathed life in to a new franchise but that movie had more to do with the director. Hopefully this has a darker edge and hopefully Bay isn't a hands on producer

I just dont know what to think. This guy is known for a lot brainless blockbuster's from what I hear, so I'll need more info to judge this movie with. Honestly, I would have wanted Joe Carnahan to do it. Brad Bird might be good for it as well.

I wonder how this is gonna end? :/

I seriously hope they do it in the vein of the first Turtles movie and make it dark like the original comics!
If they promise to do that im in!

These guys need to be the main villains.
Ken Watanabe or Tadanobu Asano as Shredder
Laurence Fishburne as Baxter Stockman

It'd be nice if the property grew up with it's original fans, I legit had every friggin' toy, I still have most of them in boxes stored at my mom's.

I'd love to see a more adult-oriented flick. I doubt it'll happen, but it'd be nice. Something more along the lines of the original comic and less along the lines of the original cartoon series.

Also sucks that the rumors about Rocksteady making a TMNT game were false. That would have rocked so much.

Im with it!!! But read this along time ago, I hope Bay dose more than produce. I read an article where he said the biggest thing that he will change is the hight of the turtles. I would definitely change this as well, they were way to tall, not stealthy at all, need to be more compact and ninja like.

I'd have to say the best thing Liebesman has made so far is "The Killing Room", the 15 minute prelude to "The Ring 2" called Rings, and that Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel. So maybe he might not use The "Roland Emmerich Handbook for directing" this time around.....hopefully

As long as the script is good and they don't mess it up, I don't mind Liebesman directing. Would prefer Brad Bird though.

I think a more adult based movie would be cool, it seems like there are two fan bases, little naive kids and adult fans. Everything Turtles outside of comics has been more kid oriented.

Not saying it has to have F-bombs, sex scenes, and Spartacus type violence but a little more serious tone towards mature audiences would be nice, I think the kiddies have gotten enough TMNT love.

The problem is the turtles are super marketable and selling out the kiddies keeps people wallets packed.
