It seems Jesse Wigutow will come aboard the new adaptation of James O'Barr's cult classic The Crow..

From Deadline..

Days after Relativity Media and The Weinstein Company buried the hatchet and dropped lawsuits on the remake of The Crow, Jesse Wigutow is making a deal to write the script. The original was distributed by the Weinsteins at Miramax back in 1994 and grossed $50.6M domestic.

And an update from Variety's Jeff Schneider reveals the movie also has a director..

Before the Fall helmer F. JAVIER GUTIERREZ set to direct THE CROW for RELATIVITY MEDIA

This project has seen some hard times and has had a few different actors and directors attached. Most prominently Bradley Cooper who was all set to get stuck into the role before things went South. Now that a draft is in the pipeline we might have some more news on it soon. Wigutow wrote the script for the 2006 TV movie The Prince, HBO Films' Irreparable Harm and is currently working on The Osterman Weekend remake, as well as the Steve McQueen biopic, Divorcees. Gutierrez has helmed Spanish end-of-days movie Before The Fall and is currently at work on horror flick The Monkey's Paw.

Personally, i'd like to see a movie version of the crow closer to the actual graphic novel.

i really dont see the need to redo this movie... the first one is pretty good on its own...(minus bad acting) story is really good though and it will be hard to follow in brandon lees foot steps as he did an amazing job on his end.

This is a good example of a movie that should not be remade. The original was well cast and expertly directed. Great mood and music. I understand rebooting movies that were made back when the special effects were lame (like rebooting superman for example) but this doesn't need it.

No Norrington, no me. He was one of the only very few directors i had faith in to pick up where Proyas left off. Forget LXG, Blade was near perfect and it's visual style was ideal for The Crow.

R.I.P. Erik Draven.

I am all for a new Crow movie but I do not want a remake of the original because no one will top Brandon Lee's performance.
