Hi, I'm TheManFromMars, and I want to discuss something that's been bugging me ever since I saw the new trailer of Thor: The Dark World.
This scene:
As you can observe, Thor is wearing "Midgardian Garments" on this scene (you can even see the label on the shoulder) instead of his usual Asgardian outfit.
Now, of course, Thor could be just trying to blend in for a romantic weekend with Jane in London (I assume that's London), but I think it's possible that Thor is not wearing any Asgardian clothing because, simply put, he's no longer an Asgardian.
Wait, WHAT? WHY?
I think there's two likely possibilities for "why":
1) This is the "sacrifice" that Malekith alludes to. In order to save Asgard (and the universe) Thor must be exiled once again, or he needs to cut Asgard's connection with Earth (somehow) and becomes stranded here.
Or...
2) Odin rejects Jane and is adamant that Thor must marry an Asgardian. Thor chooses Jane against his father wishes and is either banned or leaves and loses his powers at his own will, choosing to live a mortal life with his beloved.
There are already hints of this on the footage that was exhibited on D23, where Odin compares Jane being on Asgard to a goat being on a banquet.
Okay, now that we established what made me believe that Thor could turn mortal at the end of the movie, let's talk about what I think this could mean for Avengers: Age of Ultron and how this connects with Phase 2: Simply put, I think Phase 2 will be about heroes giving up on their "heroics" to try having a normal life only for Ultron to show up and make them realize that they just can't "retire".
In Iron Man 3, we already saw Tony blowing up his suits as a promise to Pepper that he will focus on them as a couple rather than spend his time as Iron Man.
In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, everything suggests that Cap (and, possibly, Black Widow) will become disillusioned with SHIELD and may leave the organization all together. Will he stop being Captain America too? Who knows?
We won't have another Hulk movie on Phase 2, but Bruce Banner has always been reluctant to unleash the Hulk, to say the least.
So, taking all that in consideration, I believe Avengers 2 will be about a bunch of heroes who don't wanna be heroes anymore, but TOO BAD! They'll have to because, as Nick Fury said at the end of The Avengers, "We'll need them to".
So, is my theory full of holes and crap, or I'm into something? Leave your comments below.
