Chris O'Dowd Has A Role In THOR: THE DARK WORLD; Will He Play Donald Blake?

The Irish actor best known for his role in Bridesmaids, Chris O'Dowd, has revealed that he has a scene in Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World as well as who he shares that scene with. Check it out for details!

Somehow slipping past media outlets when the Marvel sequel was in its casting stage last year, Thor: The Dark World will apparently include a scene with Bridesmaids star Chris O'Dowd. The Irish actor first alluded to the role back in November, on Twitter, but O'Dowd now tells Indiewire:

“I think I’ll do more dramatic stuff and I think I have some stuff coming out that’s a bit more dramatic. I don’t know if I’d do an action movie because I don’t know if I could keep a straight face honestly, I just think it’s so silly. Like I love watching them but I can’t imagine me doing one. Actually, you know what I’ve done, just for fun because I didn’t think there was any way that I could be in a superhero movie, so I’ve done a scene in the new “Thor” movie, just for that. I just do like one scene, which was fun.”

Although Chris O'Dowd failed to reveal details about his character, he did tweet back in November, as aforementioned, that he filmed a date scene with actress Natalie Portman, who's reprising her Jane Foster role in Thor: The Dark World. Therefore, it's possible O'Dowd will play Donald Blake, Thor's human alias in the comics, but the name of Jane Foster's ex-boyfriend in the first Thor film. Of course, it could be someone new. What do you think? Special thanks to @ThorMoviesFan!

Marvel Studios’ “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all. Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo & Anthony Hopkins as Odin, “Thor: The Dark World” is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, from a story by Don Payne (credit not final) and screenplay by Christopher Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (credit not final) and is based on Marvel’s classic Super Hero Thor, who first appeared in the comic book “Journey into Mystery” #83 in August, 1962. “Thor: The Dark World” is presented by Marvel Studios. The executive producers are Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso, Craig Kyle and Nigel Gostelow. The film releases November 8, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios.

Hope he's a Elf that Thor just knocks out of the park Sammy Sosa style!

Seriously though, O'Dowd has shown some real [frick]ing talent lately in Bridesmaids and in This is 40, despite how shitty the stench was for that piece of garbage...

I'm guessing Jane has given up on the God of Thunder coming back and goes out with a schmuck. (only to have the date interrupted by Thor?)

I would love if someone played Blake.

Anyone ever think of this though? Marvel has hired four different Chris's now. Chris Evens, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt, and now Chris O'Dowd! Three of them staring in their own movies! It doesn't matter I just thought it was funny.

@AlibiBreakfast

Yep, that's exactly what I was thinking. I hope it's not an overly comical scene though. Just them on a date, that goes badly for whatever reason. Hopefully Thor returning.

I think it's possible too Donald Blake could be Dr.Strange in this version. Possibly using Donald Blake as an alias similiar to how Thor used the name.

@superotherside
I think all the Chris's thing is just a coincidence. Well how many are left that can fill a Marvel role? We have former Batman sidekick Chris O'Donnel, Chris Pine, Chris Tucker? , or just a wildcard around Christian Bale maybe?

Seeing Don Blake could be cool, but only as a supporting character.

@polarkyle: If he played both, it would be weird that Jane didn't mention the fact that he looked a lot like her ex... like twin-brother like.

Goof! He'd love to be a proper character in a CBM! H's just too self-conscious and bitter for it. Does he think Sir Ben Kingsley, Sir Ian McKellen, Sir Anthony Hopkins, and I don't know if he is, but should be, Sir Michael Caine, are all ashamed of their portrayals? He believes he can't, so won't, and is bullshitting to justify it.

does nobody remember that they showed a picture of Donald Blake in 'Thor'? the scene where Erik Selvig retrieves Thor from the SHIELD camp surrounding Thor's hammer. a picture of Donald Blake is seen on a computer screen when they run a background check on him. he looks very similar to Thor, only slightly different.

They also stated in THOR that she hates her EX boyfriend Donald Blake.

Why would she be going out with him again?

And NO, he's not [frick]ing Dr. Strange, that's asinine to even think that.

I hate it when people assume some dumb shit like this.

Watch Thor again. It's Thor's face on the screen. It's the picture that Darcy took in the restaurant when he's eating pancakes.
