The Hollywood Reporter has the box office report that the latest Transformers film, Dark Of The Moon, has shattered another box office record. With a total of $372 million worldwide, it's now the third biggest overseas debut of all time (next to Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince and Spider-Man 3). Below are the details...

Paramount’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon has transformed into the third best worldwide debut of all time, smashing records and grossing a whopping $372 million through Sunday.

With the actual July 4th holiday still to go, Michael Bay’s Dark of the Moon should finish Monday with a total opening gross of $405.8 million. That would not change its status compared to Half-Blood Prince and Spider-Man, since Monday's grosses don't count in terms of the record.

Domestically, Dark of the Moon’s gross through Sunday was $162 million. It’s expected to earn another $18.8 million Monday for a total domestic launch of $180.8 million.

So who has seen the film already? Do you think it's worth the huge box office success? Sound off your thoughts below.

Simple , it was FILMED in 3d just like pirates so welcome to the billion dollar club . I would bet that if the Avengers or Iron man 3 or Thor 2 were filmed in 3d they would get alot closer to doing a billion dollars too . And you will see Spiderman hitting the billion mark also . There will be very few movies not filmed in 3d make it to a billion , maybe Harry Potter will be the exception because of the popularity but not too many others .

I saw it yesterday and thought it was awesome. don't know if it's better than the first but it was really good. I saw it in 2D btw. I ain't paying for that 3D crap. anyway, when the credits started, the whole theater applauded. that happen to anyone else?

@Grimlock Actually, on RottenTomatoes TF3 has 38%, about twice as high as you claim. and it's higher than more critically panned films such as Pirates 4, Priest, Big Momma's House 4, and even Cars 2. So It's not the most critically panned film of the year, where do you get your info?

After two more weeks I wouldn't be surprised if Paramount announce a 4th one. But it was better then 2nd one by miles story wasn't the greatest but the action in the last half in 3d was sweet.

I thought it was the best out of the 3. And was the coolest 3D I have ever seen. If you pay to see one movie in 3D this year this should be the one. Why is broken glass so cool to me in 3D? lol

The critic rating is only 38%... the viewer rating is 90%... so the movie is making a ton of money and 90% of the people who see it love it... hmmmm, sounds like one big "F.U." to the critics! Lol

@alex- actually, now would be the perfect time to introduce galvatron... he coud resurrect megatron into galvatron and a few other decepticons to make the sweeps, etc...

Ample doses of "Depakote" required. If you've ever wondered what having a seizure is like, "Transformers: DOTM," is your ticket to ride.

"DOTM" is a non-stop orgy of pointless, mind-numbing robot destruction and violence highlighted by an endless parade of mechanical innards whizzing across the screen at 200 MPH.

As for the rest of the movie, the plot is a convoluted mess and the human characters are a joke. Not only is their acting bad but the dialogue appears to have been scripted by a 9 year-old. Also, over the course of 2 hours horn-dog Michael Bay reduces women to nothing more than mindless, annoying hump magnets. Look no further than the frequent up close ass and crotch shots of pneumatic Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and the "Vivid" contract girl lookalikes in the background.

Sadly, even the Transformers are lame. Unlike the cartoon and comic books of the 80's, none of the key Transformers are developed enough in the story to the point where you care what's happening to them.

In summary, Michael Bay and the overrated Steven Spielberg succeed magnificently in further destroying a cool sci-fi premise that always had the potential to be awesome in the hands of a more competent, visionary director and producer.

Alright. Critics are usually right, as it's their profession. It's true i do love the Transformers as a concept and a fond childhood experience, however these Bay movies are terrible. Doesn't mean i don't like the Transformers, yet i'm intelligent enough to except that these movies are terribly written, with ham-fisted acting and poorly filmed and paced action scenes. I'm not sure who exactly was steering the ship with this mess, but a part of me wants to like Bay. He's a douche for sure, but he does create a beautiful PICTURE. No doubt. If we could harness his power somehow into an excellent script... no wait, if Spielberg tried and couldn't do it... then no one can. Bay will simply continue to gratify himself on screen, and take as many people with him, saying "it's okay to like this! it's everyone else who's stupid! yeah, that's it!" The first film was awful, the second was an abortion, and Dark of the Moon is more of the same. Shame on you for suckering me back with a dope trailer and promises of 'less stupid' 'more mature'. Shame on me for falling for it again. Amen.

they should just do a prequel to the first but have it be the War of Cybertron. you would have no humans (which a lot of people would like), no Michael Bay (same) and bring back a lot of the characters.

Autobots: Optimus Prime
Bumblebee
Ironhide
Sentinel Prime
Ratchet
Jazz
Arcee
Sideswipe
Que
Dino
Jolt
others I haven't heard of

Decepticons:
Megatron
Starscream
Soundwave
Shockwave
Barricade
Blackout
Bonecrusher
Laserbeak
The Dreads
Jetfire
Scorponok
Grinder
Rampage
Sideways

@jazzywazzy: I just hate the idea of rebooting something so soon after they make it. I mean, is WB REALLY gonna reboot Batman only a year after Dark Knight Rises? how stupid can they get?
