The Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) continues his downward spiral and a week after his sister (Willa Holland) left the series for good, he had a very unusual - possibly nonsensical - but definitely very big falling out with Diggle (David Ramsey), who has been one of his most trusted friends since the very beginning of his journey as the Emerald Archer.

The hour ends with a lonely Oliver finding himself in a very sticky situation as two of Diaz's (Kirk Acevedo) employees call for his impeachment, which is something we'll surely see play out more next week. The upcoming episode will also see him possibly break ties with Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and get a visit from an unexpected old friend.

Watch the new promo for episode eighteen, titled "Fundamentals," below:

"Fundamentals" - (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)

OLIVER IS VISITED BY A GHOST FROM HIS PAST - In his darkest place yet, Oliver (Stephen Amell) wonders if he has failed at everything - being a father, a mayor and a hero. His frustration rising, Oliver lashes out at Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and William (guest star Jack Moore). A surprising visit from an old friend has Oliver questioning his next move. Ben Bray directed the episode written by Speed Weed & Emilio Ortega Aldrich (#618). Original airdate 4/12/2018.

After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the North China Sea. He returned home to Star City, bent on righting the wrongs done by his family and fighting injustice. As the Green Arrow, he protects his city with the help of Team Arrow with former soldier John Diggle, computer-science expert Felicity Smoak, his vigilante-trained sister Thea Queen, Deputy Mayor Quentin Lance, brilliant inventor Curtis Holt, and his new recruits, street-savvy Rene Ramirez and meta-human Dinah Drake. Oliver has finally solidified and strengthened his crime-fighting team only to have it threatened when unexpected enemies from his past return to Star City, forcing Oliver to rethink his relationship with each member of his “family”.

This might have been my least favorite episode of the entire season so far. The warehouse fight was very good, loved that new trick arrow Oliver fired. But the overarching issue of this episode, Oliver and Diggle, didn't make much sense. I found that the reasoning behind Diggle's frustration with Oliver was poorly thought out. He was accusing Oliver of stuff he had supported and really making Oliver out to be the villain, and little of what he said is actually factual. I really don't understand how Diggle could have flipped like that, its almost like he had Dinah or Renee whispering in his ear. And while Olive is being docile, Diggle freaking punches him in the face?? Like wtf?? I almost expected Diggle to be high on vertigo or something.

Oliver however, his dialogue with Diggle was excellent; I loved how he reacted and what he said. And Oliver was totally correct. This just felt like a very unnecessary episode. Diggle could have said that he needed some time to reevaluate, but we did not need the fight.

Next week's episode seems like a continuation. Now Felicity is leaving him? Seriously? Oliver always seems to get treated like shit by those around him, really surprised that Diggle and it seems like Felicity are stooping so low.

Stephen Amell and David Ramsey (little typo there Rohan but its cool we are humans :3) acted well that argument. And the short fight too.

But the whole fallout's reason behind not so much. I dunno, feels like they went 10 steps ahead or read the mind of the Jessica Jones S2 writing team and decided to do something quite similar where the conflicts and "villains" are the heroes themselves while the real bad guys are winning. It's not my best comparison but you can't not admit that the plots are a bit different. There is even a drug thing going just like in JJ was with Trish and now Diggle.

And hey even a big fight between the main two leads. Go figure that, small world.

I hope the rest of the shows don't every try this. An interal civil war or fallout in a team works best IMO on a big screen where it is more condensed and you don't have to see it all go down the toilet week after week.

Maybe the next episode will improve some things. Dunno how they will top S5's finale as the showrunner is now teasing, right now just focus on doing a good S7 and I think that starts by having a clear idea of who you want the villain to be and establish a bond with the main hero. Afterwards I think, as writers usually say, the rest will write itself.

This season has been decent so far, i really hope the Finale has Oliver arrested and sent to a supermax prison, then for the next season have a really long prison break style plot just like that old movie script from a few years ago

Team Arrow Civil War arc is one of the worst things ever written in the show. It has turned all the characters into whining hypocritical assholes who you just want to punch them in their stupid faces every time they're on screen.
