ARROW Season 7 Will Add Two New Recurring Characters; Stephen Amell Teases A "New Storytelling Technique"

Following last week’s season finale, fans will have to wait until the fall to see any new episodes of the CW’s Arrow, which is sure to a tough wait for some after the massive status quo change that hit the show in the finale.

Aside from the events in the final episode of Season 6, the series also saw some changes behind the scenes as a few cast members departed the show and Season 7 gained a new showrunner in Beth Schwartz.

Now, along with Oliver’s new facial hair and the likely appearance of the Longbow Hunters, the seventh season of Arrow will be adding two new recurring characters.

According to TV Line, one of the newest additions is an “ambitious, young, anti-vigilante recruit at the SCPD” who will add to the difficulties facing Team Arrow and is described as being to vigilantes what Buffy was to vampires. Also, joining Felicity and Mr. Teriffic as the show’s tech geniuses is one character described as a “successful tech whiz who is gay, and who harbors a heartbreaking past.”

In all, these two roles don’t sound too signifcant, but it’s still too early tell. Though, with the recent departure of a few characters, it’s possible they could be filling the absences.

While it may seem like we are already in store for some significant changes when Season 7 comes around, Stephen Amell is currently teasing (via Cinema Blend) some new things to come in terms of storytelling methods.

“I think that it's going to be...we can't go bigger than we went last year, so we're going more specific. . . . We are gonna introduce a new storytelling technique that I'm really excited about. All that I can say.”

This tease from the show’s lead doesn’t give us much to go on, but considering the show has employed nearly every trick in the book — whether it be flashbacks or dream sequences — at least once, it will be interesting to see what they have in store for Season 7.

Instead of flashbacks it'll be flash forwards.

Was season 6 worth watching? I LOVED season 5, but the start of this season was hard to get into and it seemed like they were reverting back to some of their old ways. I only got a few episodes in before giving up.

@DrFreudstein - Honestly, regardless of having a good season finale, season 6 was one of the weaker seasons of the show. You're better off just watching a recap of the season or if you want, watch from episode 18 and onwards because that's when it sort of gets better.

The shows need to stop name dropping Ted Kord and just bring him into the CWverse.

Also, I don't care if it doesn't make sense with the current timeline, find a way to get Leonard Snart and Mick Rory into that prison. I wants my Prison Break references.

Does this mean Curtis must get into a love triangle with this guy and his new cop boyfriend who
knows his secret ID?

God I hope not. That would be like having Oliver start banging Dinah when she first showed up because she's hetero, attractive, new to the team and both of them were coming off heartbreak.

How is a rookie SCPD Officer supposed to be any threat to vigilantes who stormed the SCPD headquarters
(with the FBI) and took down dozens of bad cops? Unless he's Dick Grayson.

A new storytelling technique? How exciting! I wonder which fictitious country will be shot in the warehouse, the woods behind the warehouse, or the street in front of the warehouse. I'm sure it will look completely different from fake China and fake Russia.

All the WB DC shows have lost their appeal to me unfortunately. I've never viewed them as anything Emmy worthy, but they were entertaining. I'll say it again, I think the seasons are just too long. They stretch out story lines over 23 one-hour episodes, and its just too many. Netflix type shows being only 10 episodes is the model these show should pick up...concise stories. They just feel soooo dragged out.

Unpopular opinion but no show should be more than 6 seasons long

I wish they'd introduce HAL JORDAN already... so much potential considering the history of those two characters.

Suprised that never got more controversy on here.

A new storytelling technique. "We're going to try to write out a story ahead of time instead of just ad libbing and making shit up and punching each other randomly."

“successful tech whiz who is gay, and who harbors a heartbreaking past.” Why am I not surprised that being gay was CW's #1 trait for this character.

Also, the producers damn lied to us. They promised that a major DC villain would be teased and introduced in the Flash finale as the big bad for the next season, and unless it was SO well hidden that even a mega nerd like me couldn't spot it, they never showed it. I was expecting someone like Abra Kadabra. Or a full on invasion of the Rogues.
